It is stated in our textbook that, “Bullying is associated with a hostile workplace where someone (or a group) considered a target is threatened, harassed, belittled, verbally abused, or overly criticized.” (Ferrell, Fraedrich, & Ferrell, Pg. 67). For children, school is supposed to be there safe place, I feel as though the workplace is the same for adults. Adults want to go into work day in and day out and feel comfortable, safe, and feel as though they can be themselves. It is stated in an online article in the Wall Street Journal titled, “Lawyers and Employers Take the Fight to ‘Workplace Bullies’” that says, “Some business groups and lawmakers say workplace bullying is too difficult to define, and a poorly worded law would expose businesses to unnecessary lawsuits.” (Tuna, 2008). In order for legal action against workplace bullying to take place and be effective, there needs to be development of a concise definition and standards as to what would be considered bullying in the workplace. I believe this is a topic that needs to be worked out and put into effect, to not only prevent the employee from personal hardships, but to prevent the organization from a decline in their
