Workplace Observation: SCO Family Services
I have volunteered for various organizations that allows me to practice my counseling skills. I have volunteered at the following:
SCO Family services
SCO was a challenge for me I was assigned to watch children interact with their biological parents. It was very important to pick up on nonverbal communication at this site as well as verbal communication to make sure all interactions were appropriate. These actions needed to be monitored because often these were children who have been removed from their home due to some misconduct or neglect. I took pride in making sure that interactions were safe and appropriate both physically and emotionally.

    From my observation, I believe that the social worker was seeking to help the client of domestic violence become aware that her children are seeing the violence that is done in front of them.
