• What type of strategies or interventions should HR management adopt to protect employees while at work?
Prevention and Management of Workplace Violence Work place violence can be described as threatening, abusing, and physically harm to employees at the workplace. For example a Spanish teacher who came with Ak-47 in a guitar case had killed the head of the school is a severe workplace violence (Adams, 2012). The employees in occupational groups such as health care, correctional officers, teachers and retail employees are more at risk from the perspective of workplace …show more content…
Some of the major factors for workplace violence are:
• Remote location: Employees who are working in remote location especially in suburb areas may be attacked by strangers or customers etc for example an employee at gas station may be attached by the customers or thieves etc.
• Inappropriate language: The miscommunication is the major reason for differences between people which happens through inappropriate language.
• Role ambiguity: If employees are not sure about their roles and responsibilities they may enter into conflict with others at workplace which leads to workplace …show more content…
The management commitment is essential for avoid workplace violence. The OSHA had also passed acts and provided guidelines to avoid workplace violence. The factors which cause workplace violence should be identified by the management and appropriate human resource strategy should be implemented to overcome workplace violence.
