“A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning.”-
Aristotle

(Welcome)
On behalf of Tilak college of education, I heartily welcome all of you for the “World Teacher’s Day “ celebrations.

first, let me convey to all the teachers ans student-teachers, my personal greetings and best wishes on the teachers’ day.

(Introduction)
World Teachers’day held annually on 5th October is a UNESCO initiative, a day devoted to appreciating, assessing and improving the educators of the world. World Teachers day is also an opportunity to rethink national issues facing teachers from an international perpective to benchmark progress made by teachers in global context. “A Call for Teachers!” is the slogan of World Teachers’ Day 2013. Since teachers are the most powerful force for equity, access and quality education, a call for teachers means calling for quality education for all.
How can we contribute? Everyone can help by celebrating the proffesion, by generating awareness about teacher issues, by ensuring that teacher respect is a part of the natural order of things. Hence, today Tilak College Of Education is going to contribute in its own unique way by holding a poster competition in honor of the World Teachers; Day. Students have been asked to make and submit posters on 3 themes. The first theme is

1. Social Health of students : social health is the ability to create and maintain healthy and flourishing relationships with other people. Student social health is an important area of growing focus within the community, government and educational sectors. Ongoing support of the social health of young people is vitally important, especially in the secondary years of schooling when the focus tends to be on academic achievement.

The importance of life skills learning is highlighted directly and indirectly in a number of international agreements and conventions held by UNICEF, UNESCO and WHO. From these same life skills, our next two topics arise

2. Value Based Education : Values-based Education is the way to nurture the development of active, peaceful and caring citizens. As the potters responsible for shaping the future generation of the world, value based education in of utmost importance in the field of teaching.
3. Higher order thinking skills : Higher order thinking skills involves the learning of complex judgmental skills such as critical thinking and problem solving. Some of the higher order skills are also part of the Value based education.

Students from each guidance and counseling group have picked up a topic and made a poster on it which we will be viewing in a short while.

(Inauguration)
I request our principle, Dr Patil to inaugurate the competition by cutting of the ribbon.

(Principle’s felicitation)
As a token of our gratitude, I call upon Dr Chavan to please come up and present a bouquet to Dr Patil on behalf of all students.

(Principles address)
I now request Dr. Patil to speak a few words and address us.

(Vote of thanks)
Before we get to the poster viewing, a vote of thanks for contribution made to make this program a success.
For doing all the invitations, flyers, and every other type of promotional work you can think of, I want to acknowledge Madam Sahare. She has taken this organization’s countless ideas and made them better than we could have imagined.
Thanks to our teachers for their continual support to us. Without their blessings, success would never be ours.
Another big thanks to the student team responsible for decorating our college, for black board writing and handling all the details of planning of such an epic event.
I also thank all students who by using their unique talent and creativity at work have put up wonderful and inspiring posters for all of us.
And lastly, I’m truly thankful to everyone who volunteered their time for this program. I can tell every person here is committed to make our college proud, and it’s really inspiring to see.

I now request everyone to move towards the poster display. I hope today’s posters become a permanent fragment of memory that continues to inspire you throughout your life.

THANK YOU

“You can’t have a great school without great teachers” is a beautiful quote mentioned in the film. Although government officials have sought out to reform education by providing funds or special programs, the real problem is finding effective and passionate teachers who truly seek to make a difference in the world by giving the gift of knowledge. If the system can effectively evaluate its teachers worldwide, and rid of teachers who are not doing an adequate job or benefitting the…

Learning however, won’t take place just because one wishes it; the opportunity for learning must be created by the teacher. This happens when the teacher is knowledgeable and proficient in the subject they teach, when they have the desire to pass on information and skills sets to others, and when they gain satisfaction from helping others achieve educational goals. Only then, will they be able to serve the needs of the learners by “teaching in a way that…

Teachers are by far the single most important profession field in the world. They teach students how to think, how to do math, how to write, how to read and many other important life skills. What would happen if Educators did not exist? We would turn into a country like Ethiopia, one of the top 10 least educated countries in the world. This would be the downfall of our civilization. Teachers aren’t recognized enough for the time and effort they put into their teachings of their classroom. Education is important to any nation that would want its citizens to prosper and pursue a higher stand on education. Each profession occupies a specific niche in society, doctors cure, engineers design and bankers handle our cash. Teaching, however, stands out as a more prominent entity. Teachers instill the transcendent faculties of communication, decision-making and awareness of social responsibility. No matter what field we chose to pursue later on in our lives, we again turn to teachers for training. A strong information base and best-developed capabilities of knowledge and analysis are important for progress. These crucial responsibilities of knowledge instilment, kindling inspiration and encouraging creative though are all vested in the…

UNESCO instituted World Teacher's Day on October 5. However, why wait for Teachers' Day to come around? We don't need a special occasion to express our affection towards a teacher. So did Mary Loudon by writing “Doreen Pope”, a hymn to an inspirational teacher. In this descriptive essay she pays tribute to the greatness of her teacher Doreen Pope. Someone once said, "Teachers don't impact for a year, but for a lifetime." A teacher can make a lasting impression on our mind, provides encouragement, inspiration and values, guiding us through the journey of life.…
