World War I was one of the most significant intercontinental conflicts in European History. World War I mainly involved Britain, France, Russia, Italy and later the United States. Wars like these may start for various reasons. One of the main causes of the war was the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. It's important for nations to bear a strong naval fleet in its Military, there are countless amounts entry points that potential enemy may take in the vast ocean. Earth has an about 70% of its surface covered by water so a naval fleet is essential to protect the nation's waters. Throughout the 1800s and early 1900s, Britain had the largest and most powerful naval fleet in the world at the time. Britain's Navy was still growing at an alarming rate. They were able to Maintain this power during the early 1900s with the Dreadnought. The Dreadnought was an arguably the most powerful Naval Ship in Europe at the time. Britain was the first to develop it. Britain's powerful Navy may seem like a threat to most countries in. This suspicion flies true with Germany. As Germany began to notice Britain's substantial naval fleet the country decides to step their presence on the waters. Germany did this by investing in dread notes as well. This cycle of naval triumph continued until 1912. It ended with Britain obtaining 38 total warships and 28 dreadnoughts.; Germany obtained only 24 total warships and 17 dreadnoughts. Britain still had the edge on their naval fleet. Another conflict that arose during the naval race was the naval blockade. The Naval Blockade lasted from 1914 to 1919. He was born into a family of royalty. Unfortunately, his father and cousin died so in 1889 he became next in line to the throne and was crowned emperor of Austria. Then in 1911, a new group called the Black hand formed. The group was based in Bosnia and comprised of many Bosnian nationalists. Serbia also supported the Black Hand in its efforts. Bosnia was a country that was owned by Austria. The nationalist wanted to have independence from the empire and thus the Black hand was created to seek this independence. The terrorist group turned to sinister methods to achieve their goals. In 1914 Emperor Archduke Ferdinand went to Berlin to witness his daughter Victoria get married. After he left the event a grenade bounced off the Motorcade Arkaduct and his wife was riding in. This bomb was thrown by one of the Black Hand’s members and was one of the first assassination attempts against Arcaduct Ferdinand. One of Archduke men was indeed by the bomb. So soon after the emperor decided to visit the injured person in the hospital. Unfortunately, while Arkaduct was in transit he and his Sophie were shot by Gavrilo Princip a member of the Black Hand.
