Technology plays a huge role in this century, but it’s here to make life easier.
Technology doesn’t make a person dumb, just like a book doesn’t make a person smart. This generation has its pros and cons just like the others, but people want to blame technology and go as if it’s a bad thing. Those people who go against technology are bias and never point out the good. I can go on and on about the ways technology is good and bad for us, but I’m more interested on the fact that my generation is being called dumb. Not only dumb, but the world’s dumbest generation.
Neil Howe wrote an article,”who is the real dumbest generation”.According to the studies he made, those who were born in the 1950’s to the mid 1960’s are truly the ones who are truly “dumb”. According to this article “this generation have performed the worst on standardized tests, acquired the fewest educational degrees and been the least attracted to professional careers.” This generation has had the lowest SAT/ACT scores as well. It is in fact proven that we are getting smarter by time. In all honesty, I believe technology has a role in that. There are those who believe this generation is excelling, and I agree. I don’t think this we are dumb. I think we are lazy, and people are confusing dumb and lazy. If students want to excel then they will, its just a matter of motivation. It is not because we are not intelligent.
Some research says that teens don’t read enough and they blame it on social networks. I can agree with that in some situations, but I also disagree. Having to read classics or the books assigned to read at school are not interesting. Kids don’t always want to read the classics, we want fun books that allow our
