Parents are always over protective. If i were a parent, I would let my child play football. Football is not always about taking hits. For example, “...foot gave me so much. How can i bas on a game that produced many friendships, paid for a part of my education…” (Fujita3). This example shows that the game is more than just a game. Football interaction can not only create team building skills, it can also create family and an everlasting bond. Football gives you motivation and the support to do better in your education. Another example from the article “Would I Let My Son Play Football?’ is “N.F.L. players are bigger, faster and stronger than they’ve ever been” (Fujita3). Football players are in better shape and healthy considering all the physical

After reading and analyzing “Would I Let My Son Play Football” by Scott Fujita in the New York Times, I would most definitely allow my son to play football if he wanted to. I am a firm believer in letting children express themselves and participate in fun, wholesome activities. As a former football player stated, “Football gave me so much. How can I bash a game that produced so many friendships, paid for part of my education, and helped me become the comfortable financially” (Fujita 3). There are very little programs or organizations that can provide so much for you.…

After reading Scott Fujita’s “Would I Let My Son Play Football,” I would allow my son to play football. Fujita says, “ Here I am questioning whether children should be playing at all, and I’m basically selling the game to children watching at home.”(Fujita, 4) Here, Fujita is contradicting himself, and it shows that even a former professional football player can’t hate the game, despite the harm that comes with it. Fujita also states “.... most parents with young children who played football were most interested in my workout regimen and what supplements I was taking (Fujita, 2).” According to Fujita, football has given him the chance to be stronger, in a physical manner. After seeing how fit football players are able to be, it attracts me…

Of all the characters from Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing”, Beatrice is perhaps the most interesting. As a brilliant and outspoken, her character is quite the opposite of her cousin, Hero. One must ask, “In what way is Beatrice different from other women during Shakespeare's era?” And furthermore, “for what purpose did the author write her as the firm character she plays as?” Beatrice’s character cannot be adequately pegged down by the interpretation of the reader, as she is both seemingly realistically presented and yet fictionally portrayed by the author.…

Football, like every sport has its risks, but so the players should be able to make their own decisions when it comes to whether or not they play. It is a way of a life and there is more to risk out on that field than just winning or losing. The research topic that I will be investigating is the relationship between high impact sports and their negative health effects, specifically the effort to make these sports safer. The research that I looked at in the past went slightly into the effects of these sports on children. It also made a point of criticizing society on why we feel the way that we do on this issue. Mainly, why we tend to care more about our health in regards to many other issues. The article Don't let kids Play Football, by Bennet Omalu does a good job of providing evidence and reasons on why not to let children play football. My current belief on this issue though is that while these sports have many negative effects, they are too ingrained in our culture to ban…

Although, some would still hold the argument about football teaching discipline and keeping teens active. Football will never be the only thing to teach discipline and keep teens active, but some will still take the risk. Additionally, football will not work out well for everyone and could still cause severe injuries. Yet another reason why I still stand on the side of not allowing my son to play football. To conclude, if your reason for pursuing football is due to the career path that is set, football will not be the only factor determining…

Have you ever thought about what it feels like to be thrown to the ground and then see nothing? Hear loud high pitched ringing in your ears. Have an enormous headache. Well, it is called a concussion and many children get them every day in a game called football. But, that's not the only dangerous sport. Soccer, lacrosse, hockey, baseball cause concussions, broken bones even death! Even though some might argue that sports teach lessons and keep kids healthy. Football is a violent sport, when players sign contracts with millions of dollars attached to them; they know how violent the game has always been. Not to mention, no one has to play. If a player does not want to take a hard hit, they do not have to. I agree with Rick Cleveland when he says, “They are ruining the game we love. Football is by nature a violent sport. Nobody says you have to play. Let them play football” (Cleveland).…

From my standpoint, concussions are a huge part of football and they do cause major damage to your brain in the grand scheme of life. The bigger the conflict with football players isn’t getting injured or having major injuries impact on us for life after football such as concussions. Football players die twice in life, when they’re career is done, and when they’re done. People like myself who have been playing since they were 8 or 9 years-old form themselves to become a better football player, and it just so happens that in that process, we became a better man outside of football. We feel like when we decide to stop playing, or when we have to stop playing, we’re missing a piece of us. As stated earlier in my essay, parents are now keeping their sons away from football or keeping them from playing until high school. Of course, no one can really argue that this isn’t a bad idea. I, however, disagree because football formed me to who I am today. If I am ever blessed with a son in the future, I will hope he takes an interest in football so he can have the same experience as I did; it helped me create lifelong friends and invaluable learning opportunities. It made me not normal, I am a beast. It made me not give up when times are too hard for normal human beings. It made me have a new perspective on life. It made life easier. No matter how many injuries have occurred to me, and no matter how much pain I am in from football, I am forever grateful for everything football has brought to…

How have sports impacted in your life? An issue that is hotly debated is if children should be a part of a competitive sports team. Kids can get seriously hurt and have too much pressure, so they quit. There are some cons about playing on a competitive sports team, but there are also pros. Children get stronger, develop social skills, learn leadership, etc. Both sides of the debate have some very important factors, but one side seems to be a little more important. I think that children should be on a competitive sports team because it prevents obesity, you learn how to socialize and work with your teammates, and you learn how to accept criticism.…
