Wreck It Ralph
Analysis for the Movie: Wreck It Ralph

Yes, the characters of the movie are resilient. Some of them in a good way like Ralph and Vanellope, others in a bad one like King Candy/Turbo. Ralph showed his resiliency by not just accepting what others are telling him that he’s bad, he’s a loser, and he was meant to stay bad and a loser forever. Maybe he had trouble during his journey to a better status in life but who does not? What matters most is you stay strong and bounce back from those tough times. You know who you are and nothing/no one’s ever going to change that. All Ralph wanted was to be loved and appreciated like Felix, to sleep in a cozy apartment after the arcade closes and not in a dump filled with bricks. He wanted to prove everybody wrong that maybe his role in the “Fix it Felix” game was bad but deep inside he was really a good guy. Along Ralph’s adventure, he met Vanellope von Schweetz, a cute little troublemaking glitch who has the same situation as Ralph’s. Everybody in the candy cart racing game always tells her that she cannot race because she’s just a glitch and she was just an accident waiting to happen. But Vanellope didn’t let these things get into her nerves, she knew she was destined to race for she had always felt that racing drive inside of her. Vanellope and Ralph had to work together in order to reach their dreams and to save the whole arcade from the wrath of the cybug virus which accidentally got into the candy cart racing game. They had to make sacrifices along the way in order to save the entire arcade. The scene where Ralph was willing to give up his life to create a beacon to destroy the cybugs and save everybody was more than a proof that he is truly a hero. Now let’s take a look at King Candy also known as Turbo, who showed his resiliency in negative way. Turbo was once a very popular cart racer in his own game, but as time passed by, the spotlight shifted to another racing cart game. He became envious so he decided to take over the new game which eventually led to the destruction of that particular game. No one knew that after that incident, he disguised himself as King Candy. He portrayed a figure of a happy but strict ruler when deep inside he was just plain old greedy and power hungry Turbo himself. He wanted to take over every game in the arcade so he can always keep the spotlight to himself. Unfortunately envy and greed led King Candy/Turbo to his own downfall. “If you fall down 7 times, get back up 8.” No matter how many times life gets you down, what’s important is you bounce back. Life will never be easier, it’s up to you to get stronger.

In Fannie Flagg’s esteemed novel, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café, characters and lessons from both the past and present inspire our main character, Evelyn Couch, to make changes in her life. The epitome of middle-aged misery and menopausal depression, Evelyn learns lessons from the stories and advice given to her by characters such as Mrs. Virginia ‘Ninny’ Threadgoode help her lift the veil of gloom cloaking her and aid her in reestablishing her dreams and goals – such as gaining a healthier and happier marriage with her husband, Ed, or losing all her unnecessary pounds. What sparks her journey to this better life, one she can actually look forward to at night rather than considering suicide, are the stories of a small Alabama town in the 1930’s and the residents who fight for happiness in a difficult time; Evelyn takes these stories of times past and uses the morals and advice given by Ninny to face each of her problems and attack every day with confidence. The transformation Evelyn embarks on is a sign of how strong she, or anyone, can be when their head is in the game, and as we see Idgie still selling her foods at the end of the book, we conclude that the past can live on even into the present.…

If Ralph was an Epic Hero, he would belong in an Epic Poem, and sadly, the “bad guy pledge” is about as poetic as it gets. The story of Wreck it Ralph was written, animated, and released by the Walt Disney Company. The film does not credit any true or before written story. The story has no connection to any poems of any sorts, and for that matter, any other literature, flat out disproving any statement. Odysseus, Beowulf, and Gilgamesh are characters of Ancient literature- Epic Poems. Ralph is a character from a Disney movie.…
