University of Miami, Florida State University, and Florida and Agricultural and Mechanical University are all outstanding colleges but the great Bethune-Cookman University caught my attention. Bethune had a great faculty and staff and the people were very friendly when I came to Daytona for orientation. My best friend of eight years, Bethune’s great nursing program, and how God is involved in everything you do on campus is what brought me here.…
Stephen C. Richards, an ex-convict who served time in nine federal prisons before earning his PhD in criminology, argues the supermax prison era began in 1983 at USP Marion in southern Illinois, where the first “control units” were built by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. The Marion Experiment, written from a convict criminology perspective, offers an introduction to long-term solitary confinement and supermax prisons, followed by a series of first-person accounts by prisoners—some of whom are scholars—previously or currently incarcerated in high-security facilities, including some of the roughest prisons in the western world. According to Richards, the act of holding children in solitary confinement has been a fundamental component in the process…

The reason I chose Samford was because I do not feel as if I am just another student, but I am being accepted into a family. There are three major reasons why I chose Samford: the beauty, the people, and the community.…

My most recent observation was conducted at Alain Leroy Locke College Preparatory Academy also referred to as Locke High School. Locke high school is located in South Los Angeles near Watts. This school is one of Los Angeles's major pubic Charter education schools. Charter schools are often public schools that give parents the option to send their students to schools that have different rigor than regular public schools. These types of schools have different regulations than traditional public school options. Charter schools have many pros and cons compared to conventional public institutions.…
There are many social forces that had a play in my choice of attending UC Merced. Financial aid, friends, family, and my desire to move to a different town. This school has a very friendly environment, and that is rare seeing how sizable the school is and the variety of people that there are. Texas A&M is the fifth biggest school in the country, and from multiple sources it has been said to have a huge sense of togetherness. Another reason to go here is that it is very well known and I would take great pride in being an Aggie. It also is less expensive than a lot of colleges in Texas.…

After visiting Towson for a tour, I realized this higher learning institution has three key ingredients to nurture me in my academic pursuits as well as my personal growth. The first ingredient is Towson’s diversity in campus life. I am impressed with the plethora of campus clubs including special interests and spirituality. The second ingredient is the marriage of research-based learning with hands-on application. I was thrilled to learn from the tour guide about the faculty-mentored research experiences which are student-centered. The third ingredient which helped make Towson University my first choice is its solid foundation in the liberal arts.…
For my post-secondary schooling, I have been accepted into, and planning to attend, Georgia Southern University. I chose this school for many different reasons, and going to orientation expanded those reasons. Georgia Southern offers many great opportunities for what I want to do in life. The campus is about an hour away from where I currently live, so it is close to home but not too close to home. The professors and staff are friendly and want to see the students succeed and are always ready to help. I could go on and on about why I chose this school, but I believe…
