It was 11:00 a.m. 30 minutes till the race. Everyone was doing the warm up stretches as a team. I was nervous because of how many kids there were at the meet. The time till the race felt like forever because of all the big names there from all over the state.
It was time 2 minutes till we race we ran out and di our chant and got hyped up. We took our spots to start top 5 in the first row. “Runners on your mark!” Bang! Went the gun and we were off. I felt that I got a good start and was in the top 30.
By the middle of the race all the runners had separated out into different paced groups. I was still around the top 25 or 30 place mark. We hit the 1 mile mark 5.57 my coach yelled. I knew I had a good pace going. …show more content…
It was time to kick it in and pass some people. I locked in on the people I wanted to pass and went for it. 1...2...3...4 people I passed and finished to place as 31st.
In the end I realized that I really was faster than I thought. I also learned that just because the big names are good at some sports that doesn't always mean they are good at other sports. This is what I learned from this really big Cross Country
