Short essay explaining one-to-one interaction and a group interaction during the work experience that I participated in.
Interaction can be defined as communication between two or more living organisms whether it is between humans, animals, plants etc. For interaction to take place there must be a sender and a receiver for the communication to be effective. Therefore in order for the communication to keep going the receiver has to keep responding to the message or by giving feedback. During the work experience which was in a nursery there were many instances where one-to-one interaction took place. For instance when communicating with kids between the ages of 3 and 5 the health care professionals have to ensure that they have good communication skills to get the message across and good listening skills to receive the message that the children are sending. For example a 3 year old child wants to use the bathroom but due to the fact that the child is unable to speak properly the health care professionals has find out what is the message that the child is sending across by speaking very slowly and by asking the question in a clear and precise way so that the child can understand.. The nursery assistant asked the child what is the problem and the child kept pointing to the bathroom. She then asked the child would she like to use the toilet which resulted in the child shaking her head up and down signally a yes answer. The nursery assistant then took the child to the toilet and this shows that effective communication has just took place because the message was sent by the child and received by the nursery assistant. Feedback was then given and actions taken because the child was then escorted to the toilet which states that the message was clearly understood. This was a clear example of Argyles stages of the communication cycle which consisted of an Idea, Coding, Send, Received, Translate and feedback. In the nursery there was also group interaction taking
