Identity shows a person’s individuality. A person’s individuality can include how they dress, their beliefs, their personality traits, the way they speak, their culture, their education, etc. In The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie and in my own life, it is evident that when exploring identity, a character must leave and return to his/her roots before truly understanding him/herself.…

It was 12:00am I heard my phone ring and I wondered who would call so late the number was unknown to me but I answered anyway “hello” I said and a familiar voice answered “hey Gaspar what are u doing come over and chill” it was Charles nervously I responded “ill be over there in a bit”. I was nervous because of the events that had unfolded over the past 4 days that involved me him and his girlfriend it all started on Tuesday. It was 6th period and we were about to get out of school me, Valencia and erns had plans to go hang out at Charles’s house. Finally the bell ring and me Valencia head out of class to met Charles and erns we meet them at the front and Charles has brought his girlfriend Sol along we dint have a ride to his house so the five of us head out walking towards Charles’s house the walk is about a half mile. The halfway point to Charles house is the saint josephs church as we pass it Valencia decides it would be fun a scale the church wall which makes the security there angry with us and they kick us out as we leave Charles turns back and yells fuck you the guards act like they dint hear. We walk the rest of the way to our destination and when we arrive we began to play the Xbox 360. Sol seems really bored and Charles acts as if she doesn’t exist me and Valencia find this funny. We have been hanging out for a while and it’s getting late so I told the guys that I had to go home cause my parents are strict they think it’s funny but I leave anyways I get home shower, eat, brush my teeth and go to bed cause am tired. I wake up at 6:30 the next day and get ready to go to school when I arrive at school sol sees me and she begins to talk to me she asks me if I’ve seen Charles I tell her no but that he’s probably not going to come today she looks disappointed and goes into class. The day has progressed and it’s the end of fifth period we see each other as we change classes she says hi and I respond what’s up we began to talk and I walk her to class I tell her…

Personally if I was playing in the big leagues I would love to make tens of millions of dollars myself. But I do not think they deserve such high compensation. Simply, for the fact that they do not do anything, that will help the community or save others. Although they do provide us with entertainment I feel the people that should be making tens of millions of dollars should be the people whom are saving others. The money given to the athletes could be used for more probable causes. This is enough money to feed the nation's poor for a year or to provide a lot more housing and shelters for the homeless. Others could benefit from the millions being wasted on these athletes. Many athletes raise and donate money to charity. The United Way has become one of the largest charities due to the publicity and donations given by these athletes. Many of these athletes are not frugal with their money. They help our economy by spending excessive amounts of money. The public needs to realize that without the sky-high spending, the economy would not function as well as it does now. In closing, these athletes are making too much money in a society that traditionally bases salaries on the value of ones work. These athletes do not know what real work is or how hard it is to make a dollar. Although their job is difficult, they do not play a role in our economy…
