My suggestion is that Brandon work with sentence frames to see just how different sentences can vary. This will also lead to him seeing that sentences are all part of a paragraph. The paragraph is the main idea of what an essay will be when he one day gets to that stage. Writers workshop will help him but it will and must teach him to proofread and edit his own writing.
