Statements that tell the “why” of the activity Before you write a developmental goal, ask yourself, “What can the children learn from this experience?” 

Expected outcomes of the activity
There are two or three parts to each learning objective




Who?
Will do what?
How?



Example:


TCW recognize summer versus winter items after pulling them from the teacher’s bag.



TCW match “-at” rhyming words to their given pictures





Writing a learning objective is one of the hardest parts of a lesson plan
Use action words to explain an objective



The “verb” part should be something measureable 

say, show, tell, ask, open, color, locate, write, sing, skip, paint, place, solve, explore, jump, cut, move, etc…





Include everything that is needed to complete the activity Some activities require more materials than others 
