How to Make an Upside down Pineapple Cake
When I think about cake, the first thing that comes to mind is an upside down pineapple cake. As a child my mother used to bake me one for my birthday and for special occasions. Over the years, I have been able to learn from my mother how bake my own. Now that I live on my own, I have taken on the role of baking my fiancé an upside down pineapple cake for his birthday and for special occasions. The basic steps for baking an upside down pineapple cake is make your pineapple topping, mix your cake batter, cover your topping, cook, flip, cool and serve.
Utensils
* 13x9-inch pan * A measuring cup * One large mixing bowl * A hand mixer * A tablespoon * A bakers spatula * One cook sheet
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 50 minutes
Clean-up Time: 10 minutes Total Time: 1 hour 50 minutes Serving: 12 Cost of Ingredients: $8.00 Ingredients * 1 stick of butter or ¼ cup margarine * 1 cup packed brown sugar * 1 can (20 oz) pineapple slices in juice * 1 (6 oz) jar maraschino cherries without stems * 1 box Betty Crocker ® yellow cake mix “Super Moist” * 3 Eggs * 1 cup of pineapple juice-water * ½ cup olive oil
Step By Step Instructions:
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit; and If you are using a nonstick pan heat place oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
Prepare a clean work station
Step 2: Prepare pineapple topping.
Place ¼ cup or 1 stick of butter in pan. Place the pan in the oven.
Once butter has melted, sprinkle brown sugar evenly over butter.
Step 3: Place pineapple slices on top of brown sugar and butter.
(Save extra pineapple juice)
Place maraschino cherries in the center of each slice of pineapple.
(Press both gently into brown sugar)
