Yes Sitting Too Long Can Kill You Summary
Susan Scutti in the article, “Yes, Sitting Too Long Can Kill You, Even If You Exercise”, asserts that sitting is a cause of early death. Scutti supports her assertions by demonstrating different examples on how sitting is awful for your health. The authors purpose is to inform and educate in order to save some lives from early death. The author writes in a formal tone for the people who are interested in their health. My initial reaction to the text would be that Susan Scutti is a very dramatic writer. It seemed rushed and not thought out. Scutti did not seem to put any research into it or give medical reasons why sitting is so bad for you. I do understand and am interested in this topic. I feel as though we need to spend less time

For the most part both of these studies in the areas critiqued were well done. The only thing I would change would be to change the sample population of the The Effect of Crossed Leg on Blood Pressure Measurement study to include females to get less generalized results. Both studies provide adequate information and show reliability and validity.…

I do believe that Betts and his team did a good job setting their inclusion criteria and protecting their subjects. They included “healthy” individuals who had a stable weight and some of whom practiced regular physical activity. They excluded, pregnant and lactating women and, shift workers. Also, many laboratory assessments were done on the participants that tested, cholesterol level, glucose, metabolism and hormone levels.…

I am personally disgusted by this study. It makes me sick to see that people were getting shocked for the wrong answer. It is inhumane and horrifying. I feel that Levitt and Dubner took a decent way to deal with their exploration questions, since they made a theory and looked through the writing for measurements and proof. I think the question posturing procedure is a piece of exploration, since they were making questions that nobody else was inquiring. Asking new questions gave a deeper understanding on issues like why women swing to prostitution and how safe are safety belts. This has more thought processes and finish story rather than only one point of…

Animal Experimentation plays an important role in today’s medical and pharmaceutical advances, but many question the morality of such a use of animal life. Whether you argue that testing different products and drugs on animals is necessary or not, this has become an integral part of developing products. From that Tylenol you pop to get rid of your headache, to that perfect shade of pink lip gloss, animal testing is used in order to produce the simplest household items. Today, in the United States, it is federal law that requires all pharmaceuticals, food additives, cosmetics, and garden chemicals to undergo a series of tests, including animal testing, before being available to general public. It is estimated between fifty and a hundred million vertebrate animals worldwide are being used fro animal experiments. While many believe that animal experimentation is a crucial part of research and safety, others argue the morality of this issue. Another point of view some share is a mixture of both opposing views, where one believes that animal experimentation should only be condoned in the field of medical research but not for vanity reasons.…
