Are your doubts and fears getting in the way of your hopes and dreams? Do you ever feel as if you will never get your big break or experience a breakthrough? Do you ever feel so down that it’s as though you will never be able to get back up? Well, toss all those feelings aside because tomorrow is a new day and it’s just as promising as ever and it always will be. Yes, there will be days that you will fail. Truthfully, there will also be days that are uneventful or unfruitful. It happens to everyone, even the best of them. Think about it, if it weren’t for the trials and errors of the Wright brothers, aero technology probably wouldn’t be as advanced as it is today. That said, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again” (1840 T. H. Palmer Teacher’s Manual p. 223). Pick yourself up, dust yourself off but, most importantly, learn from your mistakes. Accomplishments don’t always come right away. Sometimes, you have to work at it in order to achieve a desired goal. Sure, it may take a while but, the end product will be worth all the hard work and hours dedicated to that project. It took Thomas Edison one year to invent the light bulb. He tried many different possibilities (1400 different fibers) until he tried cotton fiber. With the cotton fiber, he then created a light bulb that could last over 1500 hours. With Edison’s hard work and dedication, the possibilities are endless. If you feel that you are great at something and that it’s something that you love to do, then why let anyone or anything stop you? There will always be naysayers or roadblocks that will try to hinder your success but, you must stay persistent and keep at it. In 1993, on Star Search, a popular talent show that was broadcasted nationally, Beyoncé Knowles participated in the competition with a group then known as Girl’s Tyme. The group lost and Beyoncé suffered her first professional set back. Sure, she was disappointed and discouraged but, she didn’t let that stop her. She worked much harder and achieved great success. Knowles became the centerpiece of the biggest selling girl group of all time, scored movie roles, signed modeling contracts, appeared in ads, and is now one of the greatest artists of all time with a booming solo career. Had Knowles given up a long time ago, she wouldn’t be where she is now, doing what she loves. Accomplishing your dreams and achieving your goals may seem like very hard tasks at times. Although, it may seem that way, you must strive to complete them. Think of a few things you could do to stay motivated. You could stick post-its with motivational quotes on everything, or talk to someone who is a great motivator, etc. The most important thing to remember is, never overwork yourself. Sometimes breaks are needed to collect yourself or your thoughts. With pure determination, undying persistence and, strong motivation, anything can be achieved.

The motherly wisdom that echoes in children’s mind that effort is more important than the result actually stems from the battlefields of our fathers and the labor of deceased scholars who have unraveled theories. The inventions are the advent of technology that we take for granted nowadays was an unattainable dream for those in the past that shed sweat and blood. iPods and airplanes were only impossible ‘objectives’ back then; rarely any historical hero revolutionized the world with a single effort as their work was passed onto their descendants. The Wright Brothers and Thomas Edison are living proof that objectives are never achieved until the wishes of those in the past are fulfilled by future generations.…

Thomas Edison’s invention of the lightbulb was so significant that it is still effecting society to today. Thomas Edison’s lightbulb had to consist of three things, the first being a durable incandescent material, the second thing the lightbulb needed was to eliminate the oxygenation from the bulb, and the last thing the lightbulb needed was a filament material of high resistance. The first lightbulb was going to be made out of platinum, however, platinum was very expensive to distribute to homes across the globe. Edison then turned to a carbon-based, high resistant, filament, which would be one of the required steps for creating a lightbulb.…

I personally believe that the more we fail in life, the greater the chances we have in learning from them and therefore becoming successful. Everyone has failed in life at least once, but it’s the way we overcome them that reflect on our true selves. Success will keep us motivated and encourage us to continue to keep going strong, but if we never had our downs as well as ups then we wouldn’t have the knowledge and experience that others have. I think that the only way to learn is to fail because if anyone get things right the first time I’d consider them very lucky.…

Failure is inevitable experience that can result in new understandings about ourselves and life itself. Whether a person is young or old, everyone has that one story of a time where they encountered failure. The first time I can recall actually dealing with failure came when I was in the 8th grade and learning a new slide on a longboard. I had started longboarding the year prior as a result of moving and living too far from my bus stop. As 7th grade progressed, I got increasingly better and eventually started to learn how to slide, which is a technique used by long boarders in an attempt to slow down when you start to wobble on your board because of too much speed and not having the proper stance.…

According to Buddha, “The only real failure in life is not to be true to the best one knows." Failing is hard especially when you haven't experienced its full effect. Ever since kindergarten, I was an honor roll student. I received all the certificates and recognition, I got to eat lunch with the teacher, which then was a goal for most kids my age. Entering middle school, I was confident that I'd be just as successful. First quarter grades were passed out and knocked me right out of the clouds of glory. Sixth grade advanced math was the one class I dreaded, and in that class I received my very first 'F.' I lost a huge piece of my confidence because I couldn’t memorize simple steps like everyone else could, no matter how hard I tried.…

A time when I experienced extreme failure was when I was in my sophomore year of high school. When I started the year, I had the mindset of, “This is going to be easy. I’m not going to sweat it.” Reason being, in my freshman year, I passed all my classes easily and I thought the next school year would be the same. I was in for a rude awakening by then. It was my first year starting an AP class and I heard stories that it was going to be easy if one paid attention in class. As the first semester went, it was a struggle already. I had easily underestimated the workload and found myself barely passing with a C. I have the type of personality where I put a lot of pressure on myself and stress out easily; as one can imagine, I was very hard on myself.…
