You Lie Poem Analysis

I believe the song You Lie by The Band Perry and Maddie’s mom lying to her go well together because they both are about lying. When Maddie first finds out that her my has been lying to her she notices little things when she asks questions about her SCID sickness and she was wondering why she looked so nervous when she did ask. In the song there’s a part where it says, “So why you lookin’ so nervous”, so I figured that her mom was nervous and Maddy found out that she was lying because of her nervousness. Her mom, ever since she diagnosed Maddy with SCID herself, has been lying to her, so for about eighteen years and the lies come naturally to her, even though she doesn’t have SCID. In the song it says, “It just comes way too natural, The way
you lie” it goes perfectly with her my mom lying so easily to her. Even though her mom was only trying to protect her because she was the only thing left, her husband and son had died.
