When you’ve finished the book called, ‘The Giver’, the most conspicuous portion of the text you would wonder about is, ‘What does the ending mean?’ The foreshadowed description of hypothermia could result to death, or it could be the frozen sensitivity from the thick downpour , leading to a fallen victim who would be quickly casted into a paralyzed state. But, if you haven’t had a chance to read the novel yet, here’s a quick summary of the story. The novel starts off with a 12 year-old boy named Jonas whom was chosen as the next receiver in his community.…
An anthropological introduction to Youtube is one of the presentations by Michael Wesch of Kansas State University. He teaches a class called Digital Ethnography, and “ethnography is the study of a culture.” Nowadays, there are many kinds of mass media appearing to connect people around the world. Thus, on Michael Wesch’s website, he writes, “Our work explores how humans use media, how media uses us, and how we can use new media to reveal our insights in new ways.” That a reason why he and his team studied the culture in Youtube.…

Add Variety to the Delivery Mix. Workshops and lectures can become routine and boring. Video provides a change of pace and can add an entertainment factor that is not possible in a live presentation. Videos can also be used to supplement a face-to-face workshop to stimulate discussion, demonstrate concepts that could not otherwise be presented, and provide meaningful examples of the topic at hand. The more the senses are engaged in the content, the more the participants will learn.…
As mentioned before, students are not able to learn efficiently with all of the internet filters. Youtube has many educational videos on various subjects, however in most schools…
Classroom websites are very essential as it allows the students to be exposed to important information that is privy to the learning process, and the acquisition of new knowledge. According to the information posted on Mrs. Richau’s website, a veteran classroom teacher, a classroom website is important to allow students the access of spelling list, classroom reading assignment, and any other activities that are in place for the students who are quest for knowledge. Classroom websites also allows parents to keep abreast of all the information that is needed to assist children in gaining maximum success.…

In my classroom I would use a computer for exploration has its pros by allowing students to explore the internet and to do research. There is so much more information on the computer and the information is more current. When Pluto was delisted as a planet and recognized it as a star we had the current information because of the internet access. Students find it easier to access information which helps students stay engaged in a project. The con for using a computer for exploration is that students may explore beyond the parameters of their project and get distracted. I will use a computer for lesson integration and it has its pros by incorporating the technology into the lessons which helps the students get excited about the subject. There are many subjects like social studies and science that are more engaging with virtual trips and streaming video. The con to using a computer is that it is not always easy to find what you want. This can be very frustrating and cause more time in planning your lessons. I will use a computer with students that have special needs and there are many pros. First, students can go at their own pace and get individual instruction, and handicapped students can use assistive technology. The use of a computer allows students to work at their individual pace and get instruction directly from the instructor. This allows teachers to have more time for other students and it allows teachers to use that time to do more. Students that need assistive technology can get this from using the computer and will…
To us, a video uploaded on YouTube of someone embarrassing themselves is funny, but to the person it most likely is something that they don’t want to be seen. There also could be a video of a celebrity people like doing something they never expected them to do. A good example of that would be the Michael Richards, known as Kosmo Kramer from Seinfeld, video that Eric Gall talked about. I video that I stumbled across one day was of these foreign people carrying a dog and dropping it off of a bridge laughing about it. It was taken off a day later. The positive effect of videos however, is what the majority of YouTube is. There are videos of people doing heroic acts, people singing who may later become famous, something inspirational, and many others. I prime example of a positive video is about a kid in middle school being picked on because of his weight. After the bully slapped him a couple times the kid picked him up and slammed him on the ground. Ever since the video was uploaded, he has become a huge inspiration to kids that have been or are being bullied. Gall does share some good examples of the positive and negative…
Every year, more than 14,000 American children, under the age of nineteen die of accidental injury in the United State of America. Some point fingers at a certain website. Many believe that by hosting videos of people preforming hazardous stunts, YouTube is encouraging and promoting others to do the same. This website is YouTube, a website were many pursue the goal of becoming an Internet celebrity. Through the use of concise and clear evidence an individual can recognize that YouTube is not guilty of that accusation. So the debate of whether YouTube is to blame comes up. However, to ignore any side of a quarrel would be unbecoming to both sides of the dispute.…
The first video I chose to watch was one I have seen before, A Pep Talk from Kid President to You. This video gets me inspired every time I watch it. This little boy uses powerful words and phrases in his video, and honestly he speaks the truth, and that is how I relate to him. He speaks from what he knows, and others feel his age. He wants teachers to engage them into learning, or as he puts it “stop being boring”. This video is a great video to use when you need a little bit on inspiration! The next video I chose to watch was Motivating Kids to Read. This video was very clear, and gave several great points. His first point was lead by example. This point was eye opening as most people forget that children learn from us and use our actions as an example. I also liked the point he made about encouraging children to read after watching the movie. I feel this is a very solid foundation to get children familiar with the plot, and that will encourage them to keep flipping the pages to that book.…

Many people believe that youtube should be allowed in school, and not all of them are students who want to use it to mess around. There are many useful videos on YouTube that are being kept from the youth of America. There is a wide variety of how-to, instructional and other educational videos students could use for projects and research. YouTube could also let students express their creativity through projects that could be viewed by the public.…
