His name is Zach Black. He was the most athletic student in GFW High School sports. He led our team with honor, a good work ethic, and he always pushed us to be the best we could be. By doing this the players and coaches gave him the most respect possible. Zach also had a good personality. He always had a positive attitude towards everything he did. He always pick up the team when things weren’t going in the right direction, but he never put us down when we were doing badly. With a good personality team captains will never be cocky and they will never think that they are better than the rest of the team. They will put the success of the team ahead of they own successes. Also they will always have a good and positive attitude. They will always pick up their teammates in time of trouble and will never put down their teammates. He gives them hope to go on playing their game no matter what happens. He never fails to give a positive outlook among his teammates. Positive thinking enables a player to perform a certain level of functioning he never thought possible to happen. They should be able to pick up their teammates when things aren’t going in the right direction, and should be able to pick up their own head when things aren’t going the way that they want it to. Clearly, team captains have to have the right personality in order to gain respect for the coaches and

A leader is a person who has the ability to lead or command an entire group of people, a leader is someone who is followed by other people. Being a leader is a wonderful privilege, it is something that is not necessarily handed to an individual nor is it something that can be bought, leadership is something that is earned. This entire course we have been learning about and discussing various characteristics of effective leaders. Some of those characteristics included confidence, charisma, courage, heart, perseverance, and among many others. This paper will focus primarily on one individual who exemplifies these traits and many other characteristics which contributes greatly to his success as a leader. The person that has been selected for the basis of this paper is Ray Lewis, a twelve year pro-bowl selection linebacker from the Baltimore Ravens. The reason I have chosen Lewis for this paper is because of the qualities he has as a leader not only on the playing field, but off of it as well. He is what I believe to be the best and most motivational and inspirational player in the National Football League today, maybe even all sports. The object of this paper is to elaborate on Lewis' characteristics and provide an explanation of his leadership style and why they are effective. This paper will begin by giving an in depth analysis of Ray. After the analysis it will then move into discussing Ray's styles of leadership. After talking about Lewis' styles it will then begin going through all his characteristics as a leader and what makes him stand out as a leader, in other words, I will explain why Ray Lewis is such a powerful and effective leader and the reason he stands out to people other than his organization.…

Leaders are motivators. In 1986 the Mets won 108 out of 162 games and the World Series although they were destined to fail. “’Thank God,’ says Hearn ‘for Mex’” (Pearlman 1). ‘Mex’ was Keith Hernandez, a veteran first baseman who had one World Series title under his belt. “Hernandez was the guy who paced the dugout while screaming at rival pitchers; it was Hernandez who advised Met relief pitchers about why the outside fastball would work better than the inside slider, and who set the ever important (yet oft-absent) positive tone.” (Pearlman 1) When you have a player, who never gives up, and is always pushing others, it makes their teammates want to win and play harder. In 2011 the Florida gators made it to the sweet 16 in the NCAA after having a few years of hard times. Chandler Parsons have played through it all. He was a key player in the team gaining their mojo back. His coach gave him the option to leave, or buy in. “He stayed and worked and got better. He got quicker and stronger and eliminated his…

For example, Coach White is the one who takes the responsibility for the first loss of the team. He could of blamed the team, or he could of gotten furious at them for not winning. Instead, he chose to take the responsibility by himself. He never reinforces the team to emulate the other teams. Instead, he tells the team that it is his fault for not training them on hills, and he even finds a place with hills for them to practice. He also takes the responsibility for having the Diaz family in their team by adjusting their practice time to not overlap with the Diaz’s job as pickers. All the responsibilities he took over for the team shows that he truly cares for the…

Decisiveness is a quality because a leader needs to show good judgement by making fair and clear decisions when facing tough situations. They also need to do this quickly. There are very few people who are lucky enough to be a captain of a team. I am one of those lucky few people. On April 12, I had an audition to try out for a Color Guard Captain position. I had been waiting for that day since early February. On April 15th, the captains were announced. I heard my name, looked at Makayla Hurt, she heard her name, and we could not believe it. Over the weekend, I thought what can I do to help improve the team. Well I can improve skill, change attitude for the better, and how will the decision I made along with our coach of me being a captain affect the team.…

    Cheer Captain Essay

One reason I feel that I would make a great choice for a captain, is that I would be dedicated to the squad, and would not give up when faced with any obstacle. To me, extra practices, time spent making bows, signs, decorations, cheers, organizing stunts, and many of the other things a captain is chosen to do, is not work, but an amazing privilege. These tasks would not bother or frustrate me, because as long as it would help the girls on my squad, I would be more than happy to do anything to help them or our coaches. I would take all challenges, whether they concern individuals, the squad, a cheer, or a stunt, in an effective way that would help the squad grow. My focus is not on me wanting to be one of the captains for the varsity cheer squad, but to help all of the cheer department and the student body to be more enthused with school spirit.…

    Good Team Player

I honestly think being a good team player has many of the same qualities of someone that is a good person in general. Many times people get confused and think a great employee makes a great team player but that is not always the case. What is always the case is a lazy employee make a bad team player. I think for any team to succeed every team member must know the; Who, What, When, Where, and Why, of the problem they are facing. If this is not done then it leaves to much room for interpretation, and even though people always say they work better under pressure this is not true, people work better under structure. After that has been established the team must feel that the work they are doing is important or at the very minimum the people he/she is working with are important. Although especially in college teams are not assigned a leader it is important to have a leader. Like I said earlier people work better under structure, without a leader people begin to ignore schedules and then everyone is only focused on the finally deadline which in turn makes the editing of a project suffer. Which is the most important part of any presentation. If people spent more time on the editing of a team project then more people on the team would have a better understanding of the overall framework the team is trying to establish even if they had less overall knowledge of what is being…

Energetic players are very similar to cocky players on all levels. They help teams win with their fast gameplay and give teams a confidence boost with the energetic attitude. An energetic player wouldn’t need a substitute nor would he or she need a motive to play with lots of energy. These types of players are ideal for captain positions; they have the ability to mirror this personality to the whole team. An energetic player would be chosen as a team captain over a cocky player, 100% of the time. Coaches know the importance of a team captain, and energetic…
