Both “Zero Hour” And War of the Worlds have a type of Martian wanting to invade Earth for their own benefit. But both invaders do so in different ways. Mink explains to her mother, “Martians invading Earth. Well not exactly Martians. They’re-I don't know. From up” (Bradbury 249.) Towards the end of the story Bradbury says, “Footsteps came into the house, heavy footsteps” (260.) The narrator explains what was going on while they were getting invaded by stating, “A violent explosion shook the air…” (H. G Wells 272.) In “Zero Hour”, the invasion occurs in the last section of the book while in War of the Worlds, the invasion occurs within the whole story from beginning to end. Bradbury says, “The buzzing grew louder. The explosion!” (256) Alike Bradbury, H. G Wells includes the characters lives being terrorized by writing, “I screamed aloud, and scalded, half blinded, agonized…” (274.) Both alien invasions include the aliens disturbing the characters lives. Both authors make the reader feel fear when reading the book and keeps them reading. “Zero Hour” by Ray Bradbury and War of the Worlds by H.
