• Timeline of major events • *Zhou dynasty (Longest lasting dynasty) 1046 - 265 B.C • 1046 B.C.: The Zhou dynasty begins under the leadership of King Wu. The Zhou join with nearby tribes to overthrow the Shang dynasty. • 771 B.C.: The Zhou capital was attacked after King You replaced his wife with a woman of lower status. His wife’s father, who rules a region called Shen, attacked Haojing. • 770 B.C.: The Zhou establish a new capital at Luoyang and they asked Emperor Ping to rule as a ceremonial figurehead. Then the Dong Zhou begins. The power of the Zhou rulers begins to decline and the country divides into a number of nearly free feudal states with little loyalty to the emperor. • 551 B.C.: Confucius was born. He becomes the most influential
