Throughout the 1960’s the majority of the news was focused on death. Throughout the 60’s multiple assassinations occurred as well as the start of the Vietnam War. Employment rates were dropping and the nation was in turmoil. The nation’s people were afraid of death and likely began seeing it as unavoidable. They had lost a president and a Civil Rights Leader and many had family and friends who were sent to war. It probably seemed that everyone was doomed and no one was invincible.…

It is evident that the recent outbreak of the z-virus that is sweeping across the Asian continent has created a zombie epidemic that has claimed many human lives and continues to spread rapidly. The number of those affected by the virus is currently in the thousands and continues to grow by the hour. If left unchecked, this epidemic could spread across the ocean and into our territories within days. Seeing how fast the disease spreads and how catastrophic it could become if it were to enter the U.S., we need to take prompt and decisive actions to halt the virus on its path of destruction. Thus, it is imperative that the president of the United States orders our borders to be shut down, avoid any cooperation…

The topic that I would like to address for my zombie project is a more efficient mode of transportation in order to survive a zombie apocalypse. In The Zombie Survival Guide, Max Brooks he explains different means of transportation but limits them to water or air travel. In an apocalypse, healthy surviving humans should not be restricted to their means of travel. In order to stay alive, an adequate form of transportation is a necessity. Walking is too dangerous and slow, while a standard car purposes many different problems. A solar powered or a hydrogen fuel cell car are optimum modes of transportation during a zombie apocalypse.…

The nature of existence in the Kingdom of the Dead is dissimilar to the Christian ideal of heave; the Kingdom of the Dead is a dismal place to be. Odysseus describes them as “shambling, shiftless dead” (p. 251). Existing in the Kingdom of the Dead is not a pleasing affair. People exist in death exactly how they died; the “men of war” are still wearing the bloody armor they died in (p. 250). The dead seem to be able to remember who they are, but they are not able to speak until Odysseus allows them to touch or “approach” the blood Odysseus spilt from the sheep (p. 254). Once they do so, the dead can only speak the truth (p. 254). If Odysseus were to ignore them, they would fade away (p. 254). To reach the dead, Odysseus uses milk and honey,…

    Dawn Of The Dead Analysis

People enjoy watching movies related to our own destruction or the end of the world. It seems that having the sensation that our destiny is to try to survive from an apocalypses, zombies or monsters is very interesting to people. This sensation is because “monsters can stand as symbols of human vulnerability and crisis, and such they play imaginative foils for thinking about our own responses to menace” (Asma, 2016). The movie “ Dawn of the Dead” is a good example of how a group of people coexisting within a mall tries to deal with each other’s personalities and behaviors, and how they fight against the zombies in order to survive. Also, this movie is a reflection of how people would react towards an event that paralyzes the world. Finally, movies about the destruction of the humanity transmit that most of these events start all of the sudden; In other words, humans are not prepare to deal with it because they did not expect it.…

Death by Landscape is a short story, written by Margaret Atwood in 1990. The Author is a Canadian novelist, poet and essayist as well as an environmental activist and feminist with many national and international awards for her writings and activities. She was born in Ottawa, Canada and started to write when she was six years old. At the age of 16 she already knew that she wants to become a professional writer. She grew up in the outback of northern Quebec, maybe that’s the reason for her love to nature and northern environments and this is what builds the frame of most of her works. The story was first published in 1991 and is a part of her short story collections. The hypothesis I would like to test for my research project is that there will be more deaths that are below the age of 45 since there hadn’t been any advancements in technology and medicine was unavailable up until the late 1940’s. Since the technology for medical help was unavailable many of the soldiers that fought in the Battle of Girard would most likely have died of infection if they had been wounded. The Battle of Girard took place during the civil war and…

The day starts like every other day does. The sun shining, birds chirping, but something will not feel right. People start to limp instead of walk, they are no longer talking, just moaning and groaning, and everyone reeks of rotting flesh and meat. The only problem with zombies is they are not who they once were; they are now creatures who walk around trying to eat anything living. Plenty of movies are created on the idea that everyone either gets their brains eaten or turned into zombies. Yes, most people think that a zombie apocalypse may not ever happen, but there is still a chance an apocalypse can happen. Just because people die in the movies does not mean people cannot survive in real life. Knowing the zombie apocalypse may happen one day, the three most important rules to remember are being prepared, maintaining protection, and staying aware.…

"Death by Landscape" v. "The Yellow Wallpaper""She was tired a lot, as if she was living not one life but two: her own, and another, shadowy life that hovered around her and would not let itself be realized…" (391). For many, the "shadowy life" of mental illness hinders one's ability to be happy and whole. Mental illness and delusion has been a fascinating but devastating topic throughout human existence, and as such, has provided much interesting literature, both fictional and factual. Two stories from two completely different time periods: "The Yellow Wallpaper," 1898, by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and "Death by Landscape," 1939, by Margaret Atwood both have deep roots in humans' infatuation with mental illness. In both stories, while having…

It was a Saturday, there was no school, and best of all there was no brothers because they were at our grandmother's to go swimming in her pool. It was warm, and sunny day outside but instead of going outside to play like most kids do, I wanted to stay inside and watch my favorite show and this show is the most tear-jerking, jaw dropping, and the most suspenseful show ever, and it was, “The Walking Dead”! Now it was season two episode seven and one of the main characters went missing episodes back and this is the episode that they find her but they don't find her as a human, they find her as a walker.
