What is broadcasted on television or what is printed in newspaper largely depends on the strategy of each organization. Some medium focus on broadcasting the bad news to capture the attention of audience whereas others refuse this side and emphasize on good deeds. My essay will analyse the types of new being reported and the elements that have impact on decision of publishing information.
There are quite a few factors that the media puts an emphasis on to circulate news. Firstly, it depends on the development strategy of each newspaper or television channel to release information in order to meet the audience’s taste. For example, while news channel is suitable for the elderly people to absorb social changes and economic policies, entertainment ones are on the youngster’s top list for the need of relaxation. Secondly, advertising is an integral part in the media’s growth and progress. It is undeniable that as being no-charge programmes, profit of television channel significantly comes from advertising. Therefore, hardly can we see a program without advertisement presence.
The content of media deserves my great attention in the second analysis. On one hand, bad news is prevalent on newspaper or television such as natural disaster, food poison, flu virus and so on. Obviously, these news have good influence on enlightening people’s recognition toward the neighboring areas and what is happening on Earth. It is undeniable that so obsessed with the negative warm about imported harmful meat from China that consumers are alert to opt their meal with alternative foods of vegetables or fish. On the other hand, the presence of good news is considered to bring bright and optimistic viewpoint to public. For example, no sooner do we hear about the gold medals in international mathematics competition gained by young talented Vietnamese high school students than we feel proud and motivated about Vietnam’s image and position in the eyes of foreign friends.
To sump up, television and newspaper play indispensable role in public’s life in generalizing information and knowledge. Whether bad or good news is published, it should be authentic and reliable so that the media is able to gain the prestige from audience.
