A Blow A Kiss
A Blow, A Kiss

A blow, A kiss by Tim Winton is about a man who gets to motor accident and it so happens that this two males (father and son) saw the accident. So they helps the injured man, while the dad went to find a telephone booth nearby, the son, Albie, stayed and comforted the man. The man was loosing too much blood and close to dying, so they had no choice but to bring the injured man to its father. They found the dad in a pub late at night. As Albie’s dad showed what had happened to the man’s father, instead of being humble and sad about it, he got mad and raged. He took his own rage to his own son.

In the story, there were a lot symbolisms. Albie was represented as caring and soft but scared at the same time, like the way he held on the Tilley lamp. The injured man was mentioned with a leather jacket being torn, saying that he might be a motorbike rider.
Some parts on the story were very strong, has a depth. “The fallen rider lay, gored jaws apart, beneath him.” The author created the setting to be dark and scary and the only lighting they had was the headlights of Albie’s car.

Fatherhood:
When Albie’s dad’s knuckles touched Albie’s cheeks, it meant that he loves Albie very much. The injured man’s dad was very drunk, so he didn’t know what he was doing. So he panicked and instead of crying, he took his madness to his son, banging his son’s head to a metal bed. The part where Albie’s dad went to town for help even though they don’t know who the man was meant that he is a caring person and will do anything to help.

The story overall, is a powerful text. It has very strong words and a lot of depth. I personally did not like the story because it wasn’t satisfying for me and I didn’t like the concept of the story. Other reasons the story did not appeal to me is because some of the conventions and phrases were very confusing for me to understand. Overall the story made me feel depressed and sad for the motorbike rider.

This story was very odd but was a good book. The fiction of this story is tied to reality in a very unique way, that is very effective in making the story not feel very fantasy. This feature made the book truly more enjoyable. Other writing techniques like not having any foreshadowing. The book keeps you guessing until the very end. Even within the story parts that I had never seen coming, Like releasing the prince. Allowing Alix to run away and eventually return on curiosity.…

The only aspect that bothers me a bit is that the story seems a bit jumbled; events that spread years apart are put together in one page, and then a few paragraphs later, the story flies back to third grade memories.I find myself desperately trying to reorient myself, but sometimes I simply cannot and have to reread the whole page.…

I also thought the plot was very intriguing . The storyline consisting of various ways our protagonists die was actually very interesting, and rather spot on to what would be the ideal way one of the characters would die, coinciding to each character and their repritiore. For the two teenagers who died in the car accident, it would be very logical to think so because of all the teen drvivng accidents and deaths resulting from them you see on the news. The business woman who died by getting hit by a bus while on her cell phone, does prove that its dangerous to be on your cellular device while in traffic, as her character joins the ranks of those who have perished the same…

3.) The concluding paragraph was awful it may have had a thesis statement but the ending could have been better. That just didn’t appeal to me at…

I thought the writer had a really good flow of style and expressed herself really well, especially with the storyline. It was a great story overall, the writer was very graphic with her words and it kind of made me feel like I was there re-living that moment with her. Her style was cool and she built up the story with conflict. The suspense was awesome because she made it feel like it was going to be good from the start to the end, but then I felt the tension when things became dark and muggy. The argumentation was written well and the story ended on a good note. The writer wrote for her people and you could literally…

Baldwin uses symbolism to demonstrate their relationship on how they are different and how they also share a common goal of getting along and not fighting. You can see the brother’s relationship change quickly in the end of the story. This story gives readers hope that people can change for the better. Through the brother’s trials and tribulations, their relationship was weak but as time passed, their relationship became stronger than they could have ever imagined. Baldwin uses symbolism of blues and jazz music, light and darkness creating an image for the reader of who the characters are. Although both brother’s suffered through the process of regaining their friendship, without a question, love or each other overcame any obstacle. Baldwin leaves us thinking as to what happens after that night. They end a memorable night bonding as brothers should with everything that has happened in the past, in the past. That night was one way of moving forward. The “cup of trembling,” symbolizes how both brothers are forgiven for what they have done. They don’t go out saying that they are sorry to each other but a simple nod, gives confirmation of having a mutual understanding of love and forgiveness. Baldwin believed in change and forgiveness in people no matter what they have done in the past. We are not the ones to judge and the story shows that people should support and accept each…

First, it starts with a catching beginning, at first. I thought it was going to be a story about a child dealing with any sort of disability, which was way more interesting than the sudden twist that the whole plot has. The primary aspect of why I disliked this story is that it is difficult for me to understand the moral of this story, and I surmise it will be way more difficult for children to do the same. The plot also has holes and it is very inconsistent. And especially the end, it is the most baffling thing I have ever read.…
