A Camping Trip
During the summer my family and I like to go camping. For me it is a way to get away from everything that is happening in my life. When camping things are so relaxing and beautiful.

When camping with my family I am always woke up by the smell of breakfast cooking over an open fire. I get dressed and climb out of the tent to see the wonderful outdoors. Once breakfast is finished cooking, we all sit in our lawn chairs and eat. I don't know what it is about bacon and eggs cooked over an open fire but they are so much more mouth watering than when cooked at home. As soon as we are all done eating, everyone pitches in to help get things cleaned up, so we can head off to do the things we each want to do.

After doing my part, I like to take a walk along the trails in the woods. The trails are so beautiful and each one unique. There are so many different kinds of trees and flowers, each with their own smell. The smell of the pine trees is like the smell of a real Christmas tree at Christmas time. The flowers so bright and colorful remind me of a rainbow on a sunny day after it has rained. These walks are so peaceful and relaxing, they make me forget about everything, including time.

As soon as I get done with my walk, I am ready to go join my family in the river. At the river I always just run and jump into the water. It always feels so refreshing after the walk, no matter how cold it is. Sometimes I like to float on my back and let the

current take me down the river a little way, that is, until it gets so shallow I drag on the rocks. Then I walk or swim back up river, just to do it all over again. When I get tired of swimming, I either lie out on the slab, a concrete bridge that goes over the river with tunnels that go through it for the water to go through, or try to catch crawdads. Most of the time we stay in or at the river until it is almost dark.

After the sun goes down everyone gathers together at the campsite to build a fire. Once the fire is built we sit

It was 103 degrees in Gold Hill that week. I was so close to the fire. Overall my summer was an adventure, but I cannot wait until next summer.…

There I am sitting in my canoe, I close my eyes and just listen. I listen to the trees swaying in the breeze, the raindrops pitter-patting on my coat, the movement of the paddle as it dips into the water. I picture the beautiful autumn foliage that surrounds me as leaves gently fall from the tree onto the surface of the water and make a print on the water, even if it is only there for a second. As English writer William Hazlitt once said “We do not see nature with our eyes, but with our understandings and our hearts.” This is how I felt out on the river during our trip, I felt like I could really understand and appreciate the beauty and serene peace of being one with nature. I also felt like I could appreciate the care that it takes to keep…

One of the many activities available is tubing. To tube, you get on a round raft type of object and you sit in the middle of it and ride down the river. You can see all the beautiful things around you, such as the trees, the little islands and the wildlife on the sides of the river. The trees are a brilliant green all summer and in spring they bloom with lovely white and pink colors. In autumn, they turn a bright red, yellow, and orange, lighting up the river. Some islands look eerie in winter because it is hard to see through all the branches and trees, giving the island a dark, spooky look. Other islands look warm and inviting, beckoning you in with their luscious branches full of different colored leaves. The wildlife looks beautiful, sometimes family of deer are visible; you can usually see one or two yearlings with their mother. Other times you can see chunky little groundhogs, usually during spring time. To see the groundhogs, you have to pay attention minutely because they are usually undistinguished among all the trees and the ground. Kayaking and canoeing are other options, which are both just as entertaining as tubing except they are more serene. You can put your hands in the river and sometimes feel the scaly fish rub up against your hand.…

I've never been an "outdoors" experience kind of person. Maybe, it's because I'm very sedentary and prefer to stay inside to read and enjoy tranquility. I avoid all types of chaos and crowded places. Nevertheless, my visit to the Camuy River Cave Park (back in 2004) was refreshing and enriching in knowledge, historically, scientifically and spiritually. That experience brought the best out of me, as a human being and a nature lover, by giving the chance of experiencing a whole new level of peace and tranquility.…

Another reason summer is my favorite season is because there is no school. School can be fun sometimes but it is always nice to have a 3 month break. You don't have to worry about school and or anything. You can just forget all about school and have fun during the summer. Summer is also a great way to make new friends. You can hang out with different people ever night. So if you have never meet someone and you hang out with them. You could maybe become best friends just by hanging out with them. Iowa is great for…

My family takes a trip to the same place about every two summers. The ride isn't always fun to get there because it is 2 and a half hours away. The trip is in Philadelphia Mississippi, where we go to Geyser Falls water park. It is always hot, a cool breeze, water slides, pools, birds, food, and many people. My family really enjoy going to the water park during the summer. We usually take about 3 days of vacation.…

his is one of the best camping stoves I have ever seen. It's built to last a lifetime and I consider it the Cadillac of all camping stoves. It's the Brunton Wind River Range™and this two burner stove has an individual burner output of 15,000 BTUs. I like the fact that it has a windshield built in. There is nothing more difficult than cooking outdoors when the wind is blowing, but this stove can be moved so that the windshields protect the flame from strong winds, and cooking will be fast and efficient.…

Things can get heated when my brother Lucas and I play tennis. I win of course. I wasn’t kidding when I said sand it your toes, we are right on the beach.
