Dear Lord,

We thank you for giving us strength and for helping us grow stronger not just as a team, but also as a family. Thank you for the many blessings you have given us throughout our season. We thank you for giving us strength and for helping us grow stronger not just as a team, but also as a family.
We are assembled here tonight, to celebrate the participation and successes of the student athletes and coaches. We have strived to learn from the coaches, compete as teams, and have learned to appreciate one another whether in victory or defeat.
God, you give each of us special gifts and You call us to serve You and one another in particular ways. Help us to do the very best we can sharing our talents and skills. Bless our tea this year and in the future and all the seasons to come. When we have the opportunity to excel, encourage us toward excellence in heart, Mind and Body. When Challenges and obstacles come in our way, remind us to fulfill our responsibilities and commitment to TEAM. Help us, Loving God, to always do our best at whatever we do.
Lord...You have looked down upon us with favor and spread the blessing of Your Love over these athletes through the joy of participation in athletics. Thank you oh lord, for giving us life and talents for our participation in sports. Help us to play well, to use our talents to their fullest, and to see them as gifts from you. Be with us when we have to deal with the pain of injury, disappointment and loss. Keep us aware of the family and the bonds we have wit heath other. Help us to play with heart and never lose heart. Most of all, help us never to quit in our efforts to be open to you. Good evening everyone, I hope everyone is enjoying their night. My name is Keyona and I was the one of the 4 captains chosen for the 2011 Montclair High School Cheerleading Squad. During my 3 years on the squad, I’ve had so many memories, good and bad, that helped me grow as a person. Cheerleading throughout my high school career took part in shaping me as the person I am today. I’d like to congratulate this year’s squad for making it through the season successfully as a new team. There were a lot of ups and downs, but I think we handled each situation well. As the season progressed, I’ve formed bonds with many of the girls on the team that will last me way beyond my high school experience. Some of the girls I think more of sisters than team mates. You guys made my experience more than enjoyable by joking, laughing, and having fun every time I stepped through gym doors. Even if my day was horrible, SOMEONE made me laugh or smile and my frown was quickly turned upside down. I’d like to thank Ms. Rob and Ms. HB for giving me the opportunity to be captain this year. They taught me to have a tough skin and to keep my head up in any situation I face in life. If I had the choice to pick different coaches for the squad, I wouldn’t because nobody could take their place in my eyes. Most importantly, I’d like to thank my mother Lisa White for motivating me and being there whenever I needed her. Even though she punished me every Saturday after each home game with washing loads of dishes from when she made cookies the night before, it was worth it. Overall, the season was unforgettable and I wouldn’t give my spot up as captain for the world. Thank you guys and enjoy the rest of your time here at the…

We were the champions. Skating as fast as possible, I rushed from the blue line to the net where our goalie was. Our team dog piled on top of one another and screamed with joy. Cheering and crying rang throughout the entire arena. I was elated, tears streamed down my face as I hugged my teammates. After a few seconds, our team recognized that we needed to shake hands with the other team. I understood the defeat and sadness in the opposing teams’ eyes because earlier in the year, I lost to an underdog team in the soccer section final. After the hand shaking, I was a given a medal from my coach.…

Sitting in the locker room today, packing up my bags for the last time, it made me realize that my softball career is actually over. I just wanted to thank everyone who has had an impact on my softball career first starting with my parents, brothers, and other family members. Second my coaches throughout this whole journey. And third to all my teammates that I have had over the years. Those friendships are what got me through the tough times and great times. I am honored to be able to say I was a softball player at West Stanly for 4 years. For the ones who are still playing, give it your all, turn teammates into your friends, and always cherish each and every chance you get to play on that field. It's crazy how much time flies so just make…

Prayer- Father God in heaven, it is once again that you have allowed me to stand behind the sacred desk and breathe the breath of life one more time. God I thank you that you will allow these your people to witness your awesome power. God I ask right now in the name of Jesus, that you would make every heart in this room that has not fully accepted you, uncomfortable so that through this message, you can speak to their heart and have them surrendering to your will and your way. God I know that this is youth day but lord help me to preach YOUR WORD to the young as well as the young at heart. Then God I ask that you will put Minister Lee in his seat and that you will rise inside of me, using me as a conduit to reach your children, with the aid of the Holy Spirit leading and guiding. Then God I ask by the authority of your word that you help me set the captives free, heal the broken hearted, and help the blind receive sight so that they may see their way through the storm, in Jesus’ immaculate we do pray. AMEN…

As we entered the last week of practice, I wanted relish what I thought would be the last few moments of the season. The varsity head coach was present at the last day of practice, and I was surprised when he pulled me aside during a drill. He told me that he had noticed my success during the season, and he wanted me to join the varsity team; for the varsity team still had two weeks of practice left before the state tournament. I held in my excitement and accepted his offer.…

I am involved in numerous clubs and activities both inside and outside of school, but my favorite this year was being a part of the Spirit Spartans, a group of Senior students who plan, organize, and promote tailgates, student attendance at games, and themes at all sporting events. Tonight is bitter sweet for me…bitter because my basketball career is coming to end and it really is hard to say goodbye to something you truly depended on through tough times and good times. Basketball has always been for them as well as my teammates and my coaches…its just hard to say goodbye. The sweet part is that this season isn’t over yet! I would like to thank a few people tonight. First off, I would like to thank God for giving me this opportunity to play basketball and allowing me to play with a torn P.C.L. in my left leg because most people would have to go through surgery or be enable to do sports in general. Words can’t describe how thankful I am for God giving me another chance to play this sport without any surgery. Secondly I would like to thank my dad for getting me into basketball. After a long day at work, you still managed to get me to practices and games. Not only that, I appreciate spending all of your summer weekends for majority of my life traveling everywhere for hundreds of tournaments. I know we both have had our differences and we both don’t always see eye to eye especially when you try to be my coach but you have always believed in me when I felt like nobody did and for that I’m more than thankful. But as I’ve grown, I’ve realized you just wanted to see me succeed and be the best that I can be. A huge, special thank you will definitely be for our coaches. Coach Clayton aka Teacon, you are a second father figure in my life and I’m so blessed that I have gotten the chance to be coached by you since the 4th grade on the court and off. You always believed in us more than anyone else, and you have shown more dedication than anyone I know when it comes around to coaching on the basketball court. Coach Eddie, I don’t know where we would all be if we didn’t have you to condition us. Coach Walker, thank you for always taking stats with my dad and having gum on you during the games! Also thank you to the fans (aka parents) that come out and…

There’s an unspoken bond between teammates who share burning calves accompanying “Fitness Fridays”, bittersweet three hour bus rides on Tuesday nights, glorious wins, and unforgettable loses. After ten years of playing the same sport, and being captain for three of those, it’s not surprising that soccer has become a huge part of my life that has taught me concepts school never could. Without soccer, I would’ve never experienced the immense impact a group of girls could have on me, especially the season of my senior year. Our team goal was to win the state championships, but along the way something more beautiful happened. We not only became a team, but a family that genuinely believed in each other and our ability to storm Rio Tinto stadium…
