How does one structure the learning environment and teaching strategies to best engage the senior students?

Introduction:
A graphic organiser: Dick and Carey's model of instructional strategy design
To present the concept of Instructional strategy, I would like you to look at Walter Dick and Lou Carey's model of instructional strategy design. Dick and Carey use the term Instructional Strategy to describe:
"the process of sequencing and organizing content, specifying learning activities, and deciding how to deliver the content and activities".
They explained the fundamentals of instructional design and helps the reader to learn the concepts and procedures for designing, developing, and evaluating instruction for all delivery plans.
Key understanding # 1:
Instruction strategies -
Instructional strategies are practices teachers use to help students become self-regulating, strategic learners. These strategies become learning strategies when students independently select the proper ones and use them successfully to achieve their learning goals.
