Mine is a story of “missed opportunities”. I am very fortunate to have both parents who have always been very active in my life. Although, they divorced when I was young, they found a way to both always be there for me. They attended my school plays together, graduation, basketball games and anything else that was significant in my life. I have had the opportunity to travel quite a bit; most recently going on a weeklong cruise to Bahamas this summer. My parents both work very hard and managed to send me to the best schools their money could buy. I attended St. Raymond’s Elementary School and then went on to Cardinal Hayes High School. I must admit that throughout my school years I’ve always done just enough to get by. As long as I passed my classes and got promoted I didn’t see the problem. Unfortunately, my luck ran out at the end of tenth grade and I was asked not to return to Cardinal Hayes High School. Although a little disappointed I didn’t see the big deal. I’d just finish in public school, hang out with my friends and play basketball. What was the problem? The problem was the rude awakening I received when I began the eleventh grade. I couldn’t believe the disrespect the students had towards the teachers not to mention the laxidacical attitudes they had towards school work. Students even sat on the desk and walked out of class.
