A Long Journey
Ever since I graduated from high school, I look back on my childhood, and I can conclude that my childhood is filled with a lot of exciting events. Field trips, receiving many awards, making friends and participating in many sports are the highlights of my childhood. The first day of school can be frightening, I was scared because I didn’t know what to think about school.. This is how I felt about my first day of 1st grade, but I was introduced to my homeroom teacher and that soon made me feel a lot better. Every day of first grade I would practice writing my numbers and letters. I also loved having recess and hanging out with my best friend Tayla. We enjoyed the gigantic playground that Silverthorne elementary had. After school we would take dance classes together.
In third and fourth grade was filled with a lot of fun activities. I chose to cross country ski for the Winter Rec Program. We had lessons for the first part of the day we lessons for the first part of the day. For the last part of the day I got to ski wherever I wanted to. On the last day of the Winter Rec Program, my group went to Keystone Ranch and skied on an old road. The snowflakes were falling down like crazy. However I ended the day with hot chocolate and cookies, it was a great way to end the cold and miserable day.
As a member of the Black Panthers, I was a great member of the team. I shot my first basketball during the games. My mom and dad was the couch of the team. During each game we constantly strived to improve our teamwork to win the game. My team members gave me a nick name which was Michael Jordon. The Plains Conservation was a field trip that I attended in fourth grade. I got to see how the pioneers and the Cherokee Indians lived on the prairies of Colorado. Learning how the school worked back then, I was able to visualize how the school system is different today, then in the pioneer time. A

I didn’t really do much over the summer. We went to Indiana beach, and I am not too fond of roller coasters, or any ride for that matter, except for at water parks. Last year in 7th grade we went to Washington D.C and saw the washington monument, lincoln memorial, we went inside the Capitol building, The Changing of the Guard at Arlington cemetery, saw The White House. That didn’t really interest me, I don’t even have any souvenirs! Even earlier in the year, we went to Buffalo, New York. We saw a football game (the team we were rooting for lost,(TO THE JETS!) and we got to see Niagara Falls.…

These past few years at Lionville Middle School have been some of the most memorable and exciting parts of my life. I came to Lionville Middle School from Shamona Creek Elementary. Shamona Creek elementary was much smaller than the gargantuan, new middle school. Also, there were so many more students and teachers. I expected the middle school to be filled to the brim with classrooms and I was correct. Some of my first memories here are quietly coming into the school and looking for my classroom. I did not even know where to go or how to get there. All around I saw kids getting to their classes right away, while I was stuck in the hallways. Fortunately, I saw a friend and followed him toward my new classroom. When I got my new locker, I had…

Growing up we all looked forward to starting high school, but how many of us enjoyed every bit of it? High school was a moment that I looked forward to; thoughts of doing what I finally wanted to flood my mind. In June 2008, I received my GSAT result and was delighted when I saw that I passed for the William Knibb Memorial High School; although a bit disappointed because it wasn’t on my top five list. High school was not everything that I expected. In a few days, I met a few nice people. The first week of school was amazing, but after a few weeks things started getting intense. High school; however, was no bed of roses, especially when it came onto the subjects, reports, and school rules.…

It’s a bler, trying to look back on when I was a preschooler, so first grade was a mess. First grade is a life changer. Going to Tri-Point in Piper City not even for a full year. Tri-Point is a small old school just like ROWVA. I remember changing schools because my parents got a divorce. We moved to Peoria and lived there with my mom's parents. I got transferred to a Catholic school. Every Wednesday the whole place went to church right across the street. It was the worst thing ever sitting in the old creepy church listening the Father talk about only “God” knows what. My teacher's name was Mrs. Heartstick, no I did not make the name up. She grossed me out. He hands very dry and cracked, they looked like an old man's hands who had worked his whole…

Summer 2010 was great for me. I did a lot of stuff this summer and hung out with a lot of friends but the highlight was riding to Wasco every Saturday morning. I would meet up with Chris Impson and we would usually hang out for the whole day. I live in St. Charles so I would have a 8 mile ride down there and sometimes we would ride bikes all the way back to my house so it was quite the work out. Other days I would ride my bike to Wasco and meet up with Christopher then ride to another friends house and spend the day there. I am really satisfied with the way my summer went. I did more than just saw friends though, I went to Wisconsin, spent a week in Missouri by myself, and rode dirt bikes on our farm. While I was in Missouri I did a lot like help my Grandpa out and played a lot of baseball.…

It was my first day. I took a deep breath and walked in the door with a fear of being embarrassed and frustrated. The smell of french toast and egg omelettes for breakfast. I grabbed an ice cold water from the cafeteria and headed to my first class. Kids of all grades were scattered right and left in the halls. Students struggling to open their lockers. Teachers rushed to get their work ready before the students arrived for class. Everything was very hectic and way more different than middle school.…

In fourth grade I had a lot of friends and they all loved to have fun and I did too. One snowy day I was walking to school and there was at least two feet of snow on the ground and my friends loved to have snowball fights. I never really took interest in these snowball fights. They were throwing snowballs at each other before school, but I went inside. It was a lot warmer inside and I did not enjoy the cold.…

What would you say if you could go back in time and speak to your younger self, especially at a critical period of development? In Letters to My Younger Self, the author thinks back to her painful struggles with timed mathematics tests during her second grade year, and the teacher’s response to those struggles. The trigger for these distressing memories is walking into a second-grade classroom as a teacher’s assistant for the first time, where Shafto (2011) recalls her own second grade year and the memories of when she was diagnosed with a learning disability. At that time and in that place, she felt discouraged, her self-esteem…

There I was, just the age of six. My mom walked me to my first day of first grade. This was no kindergarten, that’s for sure. I was living in Seattle, Washington at the time. Our school started late that year because the teachers went on strike to get more money. Besides the late start, the only other event in first grade was we moved leaving all friends and family behind. To the lovely state of Idaho which is really boring compared to Seattle, Washington.…

    A Spiritual Journey

It is a great feeling going to a place where it’s a huge matter in one’s life. “Revisiting Sacred Ground” N. Scott Momaday had made a pilgrimage which his Kiowa ancestors. Momaday has said,” There are certain villages, and towns mountains and plains that, having seen them, walked in them, lived in them, even for a day, we keep forever in the mind’s eye.” Just like how Momaday relived his ancestor’s trails, I had a chance as well. I was lucky enough to be able to go on such a sacred journey that people would pay in thousands of dollars. The pilgrimage I would like to talk about is the one I took to a sacred city in India called Badrinath. I follow Hinduism, and in Hinduism there is a saying/belief that if we go on this enriching, and spiritual journey, we will go to heaven after we pass. I have a guru, like a living god, who I listen to and look up to. He took me on this spiritual journey.…

Fifth grade has been one of the best years of my life. I have amazing friends and teachers. When you need something there always there for you. I was scared of big people in the hallway and terrified of lockers and exams and also that teachers would sign in my yellow book thirty times a day. On first day I bought a bunch of thing for my locker. Lockers were cool at first but I always forgot my combination and never kept it clean. It was a lot of work because I had test to study for and homework to finish. When exams came along they got me stressed out. I told my parents that I was scared I was going to fail! On the first day of exams…
