A Loss I Will Never Forget September 11, 2001, I wish that was just a day like any other, but what happened on that day was sadly a tragedy. September 11, 2001 was the day terrorist high-jacked Boeing 747s and crashed them into the World Trade Centers, as well as the U.S. Pentagon. Everyone has a story from that day; some very different than others. Mine is probably very common for the kids that were in school. This was the day the Twin Towers were attacked, the day I lost a part of my childhood innocence, and gained a stronger love for my country. The day started out just like any other. First period went by without a hitch, but as I walked into 2nd period something was a bit odd. My teacher, Mr. Medlen, had his TV on CNN. We were all skeptical on what we were watching... a burning tower, we asked what happened and he told us a plane had flew into one of the towers. School work was the last thing on everyone’s mind. As we watched the TV listening to reporters report the story of their lifetime, I watched what I thought at the time was video of the plane hitting the towers, but it was no replay. My class watched in horror as a second plane hit the other tower. We realized what we thought may have been an accident turned into be a moment of terror, we we’re under attack. After the second tower was struck, my friends and other follow students were being checked out of school, but my parents hadn’t come for me yet. As the day went on and we remaining students were still in school, we were all terrified. I was very afraid for my father who worked on a local military installation. Finally, by 4th period I heard my name come over the speaker letting me know that I was being checked out and my father of all people was there to get me, it was such a relief. We went home to only do what everyone had been doing all day: to watch the news. The next month was very stressful for the entire country. People
