Introduction
The high school and intercollegiate policy debate communities have been experiencing a revolution. Rapid fire delivery and the exclusion of marginalized voices have drawn a significant amount of attention to the contemporary, or traditional structure of policy debate.
Critics of policy debate have noted for years that the actual delivery of speeches is different than the eloquent and persuasive style that the public would expect. Instead of grand oratory meant to create access for a wide audience, competitive policy debaters speak at extremely fast paces that requires specific training to understand.
