As the months went one, I was more concerned about being tan than fit. A family friend, Ken, had asked me to house-sit for him, and (of course) I said yes. Every teen loves having a house to themselves! I went to the house, and after he left I began to show myself around. Being nosey, I opened a door where I found a stand-up tanning bed. I decided this was a perfect opportunity to get a few more tanning minutes. I set the timer for a full twenty minutes and began to tan. While you are using a tanning bed, you are suppose to wear goggles. I did not have goggles, and I was not surrounded by the bed, so I was not thinking about the bulbs affecting my eyes.
Later that night I decided to go home, and I would go back to the house in the morning. As soon as I got home I took a shower, and the water burned my skin. No matter how cold or hot the water was, it felt as if my skin was going to combust in flames at any moment. I figured that I had just gotten somewhat of a sunburn from the bed, and it would go away in the morning. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Very wrong. I woke up in the middle of the night to use the restroom, and my vision was completely distorted. I figured it was just from being tired and just waking up, but once again I was wrong. I tried to find my way to the restroom, but every light I turned on just added to the distortion of my vision. Everything
