My friend Liang Yu is the happiest person I have ever met. In my opinion, she knows the value of happiness and she is contented no matter what happens. She doesn't woe for thinks undone or bad things that happened to her. That's attitude and positive thinking makes her happy. Once, I heard her saying that life is hard and you can be happy if you are happy in your mind. That's something I agree and I have found her to be happy in her mind even from the dreadful experience. Besides, she always smiles and never regrets for the things undone like others and she believes that happiness is inside us. Most importantly, what impresses me most is her love to enjoy the possibility of life and her charismatic character. For the positive and satisfied mentality she possesses, I consider her as the happiest person I have ever known.

So factors leading to happiness can be various, but one of them is definite. Publius Ovidius Naso, or simply Ovid, a Roman poet, said that a happy person is one who protects his beloved. I totally agree – we get true happiness only if we love and take care about who we love. Love is the most powerful…

Introduction: The biological membranes are composed of phospholipid bilayers, each phospholipid with hydrophilic heads and hydrophobic tails, and proteins. This arrangement of the proteins and lipids produces a selectively permeable membrane. Many kinds of molecules surround or are contained within cells, but water is perhaps the single most important molecule in any living system (Hayden and McNeil 2012). Since water molecules are so small, they are constantly going into and out of the cell. Osmosis is a situation where more water molecules are moving across the membrane in one direction than the other (Hayden and McNeil 2012). During osmosis the net movement of water molecules will be from a solution that has a lower osmotic concentration to a solution that has a higher osmotic concentration. When a solution has a higher concentration of solute within the cell than out, it is called hypertonic. When a solution has a lower concentration of solute within the cell than out, it is called hypotonic. And when there are equal concentrations inside and out of the cell, it is called isotonic. The relative osmotic concentration can be determined by a change in mass of the tissue.…

As Americans continued to push further west, the feeling that the Indians that lived in these areas needed to be removed so the land being inhabited by them could be used for agriculture and other profits to the U.S. On page 134, Zinn states that “Gold was discovered in Cherokee territory in Georgia. Thousands of whites invaded, destroyed Indian property staked out claims.” This shows how Americans were only preoccupied on their own wealth, and they were willing to destroy the lives of thousands of Indians to get what they wanted. In effect to this, the U.S government made numerous treaties with the Indians, which gave them land that would always be theirs, and also promised that they would protect them. On page 136, Zinn expresses how the U.S. lied in the statement: “’a permanent home … which shall under the most solemn guarantee of the United States be and remain theirs forever...’ It was another lie.”…

After watching the video, Bhutanese views on happiness make sense. He talks about people being happy from natural happiness-not physical items that create happiness. He also talks about people of different backgrounds or situations or even the same situations have different views on what is happiness. You can have two people in the same lifestyle but one can be happy and one may not. They talk about how you cannot measure happiness based off of what makes other people happy. You have to be able to gain control of your own mind and decide on what is going to make you happy. I feel that gaining control of your mind is meaningful because a lot of people base their happiness off of material things and not the things that matter most like family and being grateful for the things that you do have instead of the things that you don’t. I think that Bhutanese considers the good life as having friends and family and being content with where they are and who they are. They like to be together and have a good time just enjoy others company. They don’t view physical items as happiness. The Bhutanese people would rather be happy than productive which is almost the complete opposite of the American culture.…

Suyuan Woo started the Joy Luck Club in China. She is the mother of June. Suyuan had to leave Kweilin because of a war. Suyuan was unable to continue her journey because she became weak. As a result she left her twin daughter on the side of the road in China. Despite her struggles she creates happiness and success where it lacking. An-mei Hsu, Lindo Jong, Ying-ying St Clair are all member of the Joy Luck Club. They all go through trail and tribulation. Trails, tribulation and life lessons that the mothers go through are past down to the children. The character that is most interesting to me is Suyuan. I chose Suyuan because she is a strong woman who refuses to focus on her hardships. She seems like a character who tries to find hope in time of despair. This quality is what I admire about Suyuan. I also believe I am most like Suyuan because I can relate to her fierce love for her child. She fears being estranged from her daughter for some reason such as different upbringings. I believe most parent can relate. Since I am parent I to worry about these things and do want the best for my children as well. Just like Suyuan I can be a little critical as…
