a person who has had a significant influence on you, and describe that influence.
Indicate a person who has had a significant influence on you, and describe that influence.
People have many influences to why they are who they are. One influence that has made me who i am today is my mom. She encourages me to things that I want to do, she also influences me on whats right and whats wrong. She restricts me to be well rounded person.
My mom encourages me to do things I’ve always wanted to do. Some things that I’ve wanted to do, sometimes insists towards bad things, but my mom doesn’t stop me. She wants me to do it and try new things, so I can learn from my mistakes. If she just tells me that its not good to do those things, I won’t know why and I’ll still be curious about it until i actually do it. She also encourages me to do things that will keep me happy. One of the main things that she always encourages me to do is be a good person, which she won’t force because its naturally my choice, but most of the time she will try reasoning with me instead of forcing me.
As you can see, my mom is a huge part of my life. She’s always been able to be there for me when i needed her, relating to any kind of circumstances, she’s been there. Parents tend to tell you what’s right and wrong, mostly by forcing you on what to do and what not to do. My mom tries to explain it to me once, but she chooses to let me try it out for myself a couple of times until i realize it on my own whether what I’m doing is right or wrong. She tries to reason with me but she never forces me to do anything i wouldn’t want to do.
One more reason to why i consider my mom to be the most significant influence in my life is because she allows me to do certain things that i want to do but at the same time she restricts me from going over board. She thinks by restricting me i will become a better person. I may not see it now, but i know her influence will make me a better well rounded person. When she knows i’m going overboard with something, she’ll hold me back and control me to stay

My Mom is my role model. I guess this is due to the fact that I used to scarcely see my Dad because he comes home really late; he still does, though not as late, while my Mother took care of me ever since she quit the job as the General Manager when I was in 2nd grade. She is the one who is there for me whenever I have a problem, like a robot on standby, but she is also a harsh whip with her discipline though she never hit me. My most notable memory of my Mom is when I sucked at math in 3rd grade. I don't know how to do a problem so naturally, I asked her. However, after she taught the same problem 4 times, I still didn't get it. I was afraid she would get mad, but she didn't and in the end when I finally got it, I asked her why she is so patient. She simply replied "practice makes perfect", an old…

One of many important roles that my mom plays in my life is that of a teacher and counselor. She has taught, and still teaches, about life and anything right and wrong in the world. An example would be that no matter how complicated something can get, never give up and walk away after the first try. Dale Carnegie, a famous writer and lecturer, once said; “Most of the things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.” (Walter 1) Another would be just because you see someone do something that seems bad, but does not get in trouble, do not…

Generally, an authoritative parent sets and enforces rules strictly, as well as provides emotional support (Huffman, 2012, p. 349). In my childhood, I broke many rules and there were many consequences. For example, I remember when I broke my mother’s glass China cabinet. I was playing with my cousin, in my house, and we did not have a ball, so we used an hourglass. My mother told me if I wanted to play, I needed to take it outside, but I did not listen, so I threw it to my cousin. My cousin did not catch it and it went flying into the China cabinet. The glass shattered everywhere. My mother screamed “GO TO YOUR ROOM NOW!!!” and I ran crying to my room. About ten minutes later my mother came in, she said firmly, “I told you not to throw the hourglass and you did, you did not listen,”…

“Mom it’s not just a phase, this is who I am now and you can’t change who I am.” The very idea of anyone attempting to control our actions can be unpalatable. Every teenager has experienced scrutiny and orders from their parents up to the point where the household begins to feel like a dictatorship. As children, our determination to explore different activities the world has to provide overrides the dictation of our parents. However, we often forget that our parents were once in our shoes and their rules are meant to prevent us from experiencing the hardships that they endured. Although we should respect our parents, we should not abide by every rule that our parents place on us, because they don’t always coincide with our personal goals.…

“Writers write to influence their readers, their preachers, their auditors, but always, at bottom, to be more themselves.” the person who has had the most significant influence on me is my mother. This influence goes way beyond the usual “I have great admiration towards my mom because she is the best.” My mom has been the sole guardian of me for as long as I can remember and her actions have turned me into the person I am today. My mother is one who leads by example. She has always given the prime example for me to follow; she has made me look at life like no other person could. My mother has turned me into someone who is responsible for myself and my own actions. Raising two children as a single parent would be, to say the most difficult. But as my brother and I were growing up under the care of my mom, I never saw my life as a struggle even though we were going through so many obstacles at the time . She helped us grow stronger as the problem got worse. I am not saying that my mom took everything with grace and ease; unlike most other children, I have seen my mom both laugh and cry through the experiences of a terrible divorce and sometimes being stuck at the end inbetween my parents was the worst . But this made our home more open to feel and nothing to be hidden. As my mother went through this horrible stage of divorce with my father she never spoke bad things about my father like many mothers’ do Instead she said to love him because we had nothing to do with adult issues. This unpremeditated approach to guidance over my brother and me did not lead to a treacherous pushing of boundaries. In fact, it brought my brother and me closer to my mom; it made us less likely to act out because we knew she trusted us. Many parents create disadvantages to oblige their children before they even have broken the rules.. My mom never utilized this mindset. This has led me to make good decisions because, if I didn’t, I would mostly…

From infancy, my mother has loved me with the deepest and sincerest love possible. My mother can be summed up as an authoritative parent. An authoritative parent is one who “acquires a balance of three key aspects of parents’ behavior toward their children- nuturance, discipline, and respect” (Heath, 2013). I can honestly say that my mother has always nurtured my talents, behavior, academic abilities, and spiritual life. This has caused many positive outcomes and a few negative ones in my life. To clarify, because of my…

I grew up in a single parent household with my mother being the sole provider of my two younger siblings and I. Due to being the oldest child, my other has always had high expectations of me. As a child when it came to school and academics, I did my work however it was not always my best work. I noticed a sudden change in my behavior when I brought home a report card which contained a couple of C’s. My mother was not happy at all. She had a long talk with me. She let me know how she felt about the grade C being for someone who is average, and she did not see me as average. She also let me know that no matter what I do in life, I need to try my best. Being threatened occasionally with negative reinforcement also motivated me to try hard in school. Due to my mother being the way she was while I was growing up and going to school, I have been successful in my school work and receiving good grades. Now, I am often hard on myself due to wanting to do well academically.…
