A Person I Admire
Do you have some one that you admire? Do you have someone that you look up to? I’m sure you do. Most people I know do as well. Generally people admire someone that is related or close to them. But I also know people who admire someone that they have never met personally such as a super star musician or athlete. Let me tell you about someone that is very close to me and that I admire more than anybody else because he is someone I spend time with every day.
The first thing that I admire about my dad is his ability to put others before himself. No matter who it is, I have noticed that he will always focus on others before he focuses on himself. On his birthday a couple of years ago we had plans to take him out to dinner and celebrate. Well, he got a call earlier that day from someone that asked if he would be willing to help put up sheetrock. Like my dad normally does, he couldn’t turn down helping someone out. He knows how hard it is to put up sheetrock by yourself, so he canceled the plans that we had for his birthday and went to help this person. That’s how my dad is. He doesn’t care what occasion it is or what is going on. If there is someone who needs help, you can count on my dad being there.
The next attribute that I admire about my dad is his knowledge. Knowledge is something that my dad has never been short on. Ever since I have been old enough to pay attention, I have noticed that my dad teaches himself just about everything. Whether its working on a car that he has never worked on before, or setting up an entirely new computer network for any of the companies he has worked for. All he has to do is either work on something or read about it and he will know how to do it forever. I have always wished that it were this easy for me to pick something up and learn it. That’s just another reason why I have so much respect and admiration for my father.
Another reason why I admire my dad so much is

My Dad is an extremely hard working person. He is always up and ready for the day before anyone else in my family and He is also the last person up always working on His projects. Just as much of a harder worker He is my Dad is also twice, even three times nicer than. My Dad is the most loving person I know, He has been extremely supportive in all my endeavors in life. He always reminds me of how much He loves me and care for me, He also sacrificed so much of His life to give me a better opportunity. He works selflessly to provide for my brothers and sisters all our necessities and goes the extra mile to ensure that we have everything we need to be successful. He always is there for me when I need Him. He would literally drop whatever He is doing just to hear me rant or if I need a shoulder to cry on. He never belittles me or my problems and insecurities. He constantly reaffirms me of my potential when I feel just like garbage. He is always telling me I am destined for greatness, I am priceless and worth more than the world to Him. Even when I hear Him tell me these things over and over I believe Him because He is extremely genuine. It is actually because of Him that I want to help people with my life. He always told me to never be greedy or money hungry, but that I should use my wealth to help the poor. He never looks down on people in a worse position than Him, He always calls other people our brothers and sisters.…

Milton Babbitt was a composer who specialized in serial and electronic music. In his article Who Cares if you Listen, Babbitt states that the distance between the composer and his audience has increased. This is mainly due to the fact that most listeners of music are ill-equipped to handle such a different and unique subgenre of the music culture. Babbitt goes on to say that the public only likes the music that is performed on the various stages across the globe because it is the popular genre of music. If asked why they like the music they would give only qualitative descriptions of the performance but not actually what composers want to hear, which is detailed descriptions of the content of the musical piece.…

    Obesity In America

In recent decades, the shift of eating practices has changed considerably due to the overwhelming popularity of fast food. Mirriam Webster’s Dictionary defines fast food “relating to, or specializing in food that can be prepared and served quickly” and is also supported with “little consideration given to quality or significance.” The readiness of these meals allows consumers to go about other matters, thus becoming a desirable option when time is under question. While there are many benefits to fast foods, awareness of consumption of such foods is alerting health professionals as unhealthy practices are directly linked to obesity and diseases like diabetes. In recent years there are reports of people filing lawsuits against fast food corporations claiming…

He continues to tell jokes; some might not be funny (I am able to say this statement because I, too, tell the same stupid jokes). He is not afraid to have fun with his family and friends. My dad might be one of the most spontaneous people alive. I remember for my spring break in second grade we decided to go to Washington D.C. to see the monuments and museums, but on the way up we stopped at the caverns. Then, we decided to go to the Baltimore Aquarium before going into the city. After the aquarium, I was really tired and fell asleep in the car. My dad woke me up after a good while; I looked out the window and we were at Niagra falls. We ended up visiting other places and never even made it to D.C. His spontaneous adventure is one of my best memories. He is able to keep his youth while being grown…

My father is always pushing me to be the best. Whether it is with school, sports, or even a silly competition, he wants me to be the best. He pushes me harder when it comes to school. He believes that I have a bright future ahead of me, and wants me to make the most out of it by getting good grades and going to a good college. He has never let me settle for anything that is below average. He always tells me that I am not an average girl, therefore; I should not accept anything that is not above average. He has taught me that with constant hard work, I will never fail. Even though, at times I get annoyed with him always pushing me, I know that he is just doing it because he wants the best for me. And so far, I have succeeded every time I have listened to him. Without him constantly pushing me, I would not be the hard working successful person I am today.…

Secondly, another reason why I admire my dad is his ability to admit his wrongs very easily and try to get others to balance him out. If my dad is unable to do something, he will let you know then and there, giving you enough time to make arrangements. People always say that it takes a man to admit wrong and since my dad is very good at doing this, I admire and respect him tremendously. Also, since he is very adamant on staying true to these values, he has always tried and instill these values into me, and for that reason I am thankful and appreciative as not everyone gets guidance like this.…
