Education is the way to help people in a broken society, where we have many lost children in the streets and jails, and parents on drugs. Role-models are what’s needed; when a child sees the parents going to school and working, hopefully it will make him or her want to do the same. Also it’s a hard decision for a mother to make, having to leave young children and seek work, but in a society with many single mothers, it’s hard not to have to work. In a mother’s decision to work, she has to have a lot of faith that the morals and values that she instilled in her child at home would help keep them safe and make positive decisions while she’s away from the home working. Scientists have found that exercise and physical activity improve the health of people who are frail or have diseases that accompany aging. Swimming actually has a lot of good attributes for older adults. Many studies show that people with osteo-arthritis will improve their joints, will have less pain, and less disability with a certain amount of exercise. Four areas that are important for staying healthy and independent: strength, balance, flexibility, and endurance. Research shows that exercise and physical activity can help older people maintain or partly restore these four areas. Exercise also makes them feel good about themselves just as would a younger person. I believe they benefit the same ways as a young adult would. Any elderly person…

Understanding these barriers that lead to unhealthy lifestyles among the elderly population allows scholars to investigate possible solutions to these barriers to promote an increase in physical activity in this population. At the intrapersonal level, classes and programs can be offered to the elderly population that teaches these individuals the benefits of exercise as well as proper ways to exercise so that they do not experience pain or discomfort during physical activity. These classes can also provide mentors for elderly individuals to motivate and possibly alter negative beliefs about ones self or about exercise, which were prevalent barriers to physical activity in researched literature. Additionally, at the interpersonal level, conventions can be held for friends and families to extend the knowledge and importance of encouragement to elderly individuals to participate in physical activity. Lack of encouragement and presence of friends and family promoted barriers to physical activity according to researched literature. Furthermore, at the environmental level, nurseries, community centers, gyms and health clubs can offer specific, accessible and convenient physical activity programs for elderly individuals in order to increase physical activity in this…
