The Main Characters

The main characters are Count Olaf who now calls himself Stephano, Uncle Monty, Violet, Klaus and Sunny. Uncle Monty is a herpetologist with a large collection of snakes.

The Setting

The setting is Uncle Monty’s house, which is very nice. There is a large room dedicated to the study of snakes. The children are staying there.

The Situation

The situation is that the Baudelaire orphans have now moved to live with their uncle. Count Olaf is pretending to be Stephano, the uncle’s new assistant so he can get to the Baudelaire fortune.

The Problem

The problem is no one believes the orphans that Stephano is Count Olaf. They know he is up to no good and worry about their safety.

The Conflict

The conflict is Count Olaf/ Stephano murders Uncle Monty. He and the doctor (who is one of Olaf’s henchmen) try to say that Uncle Monty was killed by a snake, the Mamba du Mal.

The Resolution

Klaus read a book about the poisonous snakes of the world and in the book it said that the Mamba du Mal is known for strangling people while it bites them. Uncle Monty’s body was not bruised or strangled. Count Olaf is found out but escapes again.

My Opinion and Recommendation
I think this book is good because is entertaining, mysterious and it makes you think. Also it is about snakes which are my favorite reptiles.
I give it five out of five stars.

It had humor, real life events, sadness, and suspense. I would most definitely recommend this novel to someone because although it’s very long, you won’t want to stop reading it. This book will make you wonder, cry, even laugh. It’s a book that I think had great meaning and was put together very well. In my opinion, there is no flaws about this book except how long it is.…

I like how its really intense and calming and also some parts funny. I like how it talks about teen pregnancy because some young teens will want to get pregnant at such a young age and if they read this book it may help them change their mind and wait till they get older, thats very important to me. I really like the chapter where Bobby was talking about the wall when he was trying to get everything back in place and try to see who he really was, i thought that part was really good. I like how it goes back and fourth for the chapters like then and now, it makes you want to read more because in one chapter it tells you really good information and you just want to read even more till the…

He knew that if he granted Steven amnesty, then the French government would quickly attack his country. But, Arthur was the kind-hearted man that all of Andorra idolized and respected. He was not going to give into this. King Arthur was saddened. He had to choose between death or death. Either the people of Andorra would die through the soldiers of France killing them, or Steven West would die. King Arthur would much rather sacrifice his own life. He was known for putting himself in harm’s way during battles to protect another soldier. Then he came up with an idea, since Arthur and West looked very similar, Arthur was at the end of his lifetime due to illness, and Arthur would much rather sacrifice his own life, Arthur decided he would switch clothes with West. West would be king, and Arthur would be taken to France to get arrested. Arthur whispered the plan to West, and West was flabbergasted. West’s eyebrows were raised to the sky, his jaw dropped to the ground, and was possibly going to shout in astonishment. Arthur calmed him down, for shouting in the castle was…

I just finished reading "The Bad Beginning" written by Lemony Snicket. I chose this book, because of the title, and the summary of the book. When I heard the name bad beginning it just sounded really interesting to me. Once I started reading, I knew I wouldn’t want to put the book down, and I didn’t. The lexile of this book is 1010. The main idea of this book is about three children, Violet, Klaus and Sunny, whose parents are killed in a fire which also destroys their home sent to live with Count Olaf, a relative, their lives then take a turn for the worse. Count Olaf treats the children like slaves, ordering them to cook, clean etc, and force them to share a single, filthy bedroom, with only one…
