SUMMARY
PART 1
Chapter 1:
Henry Smart Jr. (H.S.Jr) Mother (Melody Nash) shows H.S.jr the stars, a.k.a his dead Brother and sisters the most important being the first Henry Smart.  Thus A STAR CALLED HENRY
Story of H.S.jr’s parents meeting, Melody Nash and Henry Smart. H.S drunk collides into Melody. H.S prosthetic leg. M.N instantly falls in love with his ruined but strong look, he too falls in love with her.
Marriage, horrible stories about giving birth, babies and STDs by old woman
We learn about Henry Smart’s job(s), bouncer + hit man. “Henry Smart delivers a special message”
Chapter 2:
Melody and husband having a child
Granny Nash newspaper mattress, preparing for the birth, with the assistance of Missis Drake, Melody gives birth
H.S nervous  tip tapping his wooden leg thinks that his late babies died for the cruelty of his jobs, that it is God’s revenge.
Baby boy is born (no name), glowing healthiness, becomes the neighbourhoods attraction, people gift the parents, who are described as very tender and overwhelmed parents.
The argument about the name arrives; as a result, the baby is baptized without a name. Melody against “Henry”, as they had already named their late baby Henry, whose death she does not want to admit. As a result, the mother becomes depressed and rarely calls her son by his name.
Chapter 3:
Because his son’s name physically and mentally destroys his wife, H.S goes to work aggressive, which he lets out by keeping everyone out of Dolly Oblong’s brothel. D.O explains to him that she cannot afford him keeping everyone out, but understands that Alfie Gandon is very happy about his work as a hit man. She then reduces Henry’s wage by 3 shillings (1512shillings a week). H.S is completely impressed by her, contemplating the fact that D.O could in fact be A.G, Henry’s other boss. He then falls in love with Dolly.
Motivated, he works better than ever.

    The book starts off with them being a typical couple awaiting the arrival of their first new born child, going back and forth to the hospital thinking that it’s time for the arrival of their son. When the day finally arrives the Clines have a healthy baby boy named Christopher. The only thing that they don’t know and won’t know for the next two years is that their son is not going to be able to hear anything; this is because Christopher was born permanently deaf.     Henry (a time traveller) and Clare are the main characters in this film, who struggle with a relationship which is so unknowing. The first time Clare and Henry meet in the present together is very stressful for Clare. Clare battles with the fact that the memories she cherishes with times when she was growing up mean nothing to him. “I’m sorry I really have no idea who you are.” Not seeing in him the man she remembers suddenly makes Henry a stranger to her. When Alba (time traveller too), their daughter, is introduced into the family it makes their life a lot happier. “Alba, we name her Alba.” This is the moment Henry reveals to Clare that they successfully have a child, before this Clare has had six miscarriages. Henry finds out through his daughter when he dies which causes him a lot of stress and anxiety. In the end Henry dies because of his time travelling. After he dies every so often though his past body visits Clare in the meadow where she grew up, keeping the memory of him alive for her.
