A Synopsis Of The Movie Spellbound
Penn State
Dr. Love
Psych 105
The former head, i.e. Dr. Murchinson, also has a psychological disorder. He fits the stereotype of narcissistic parasite. A narcissistic parasite is someone who is in love with themselves, is selfish, and does not think about others. Dr. Murchinson best fits this stereotype because he is the one who kills the real Dr. Edwardes and he lets John carry around the blame of thinking he, John himself, killed the real Dr. Edwardes. Therefore he is selfish. He also pulls a gun on Dr. Peterson at the end when she confronts him about the killing of Dr. Edwardes, and the only reason he doesn’t shoot her is because she reminds him that he’ll go to jail if he does. So again, he is being selfish. The movie accurately portrays the disorder of Narcissistic Personality Disorder to an extent because they do represent Dr. Murchinson as someone who is extremely selfish and narcissistic. He has the need to feel like he is safe and fine even if that means others suffer because of it such as when he hid that he was the one that killed Dr. Edwardes even though John, literally, went crazy thinking he was the one that accidentally killed him. Michele was out of control swinging her arms at Elizabeth. She became violent. She began threatening Elizabeth. With the thought of death in her mind Elizabeth remembered the note that was left for her on her coffee table. The note had a mysterious handwriting and it warned Elizabeth to be careful. She ignored the note thinking it was a prank. Michele picked up a kitchen knife that was on top of a cutting board and began to stab Elizabeth. Daniel was shocked with fear and began to cry for help. Michele standing on top of Elizabeth's bloody body cried as she repeatedly stabbed her. Daniel called the police immediately and explained was happening. The cops arrived soon after the Daniel had called. The minute the cops rushed into the kitchen they were shocked. The way Daniel explained it there was blood everywhere, and a body in between the kitchen table and island. The cops looked around confused as to why the kitchen and everything in it was spotless. The cops split up and rushed through the penthouse eagerly awaiting for Elizabeth’s body to show up. It did, resting in her bed. As if nothing had happened. Elizabeth was awakened by the call of one cop telling the other he had found her. The cops were furious and thought they went to the wrong address. They asked Elizabeth questions about her family and Elizabeth was confused with horror, not only because there were cops in her home, but because her whole family was killed in a car accident, including…

He dominates the conversation and ushers Carol repeatedly; an action which is generally regarded as being extremely derogatory and advocates the belief that his elder status gives him a right to be condescending.
