A terrible misunderstanding
They entered the store. Sara looked in amazement at the twenty foot tall white Christmas tree. She was admiring the decorations. Green, red, orange, yellow, and every color you could imagine. Though, it seemed weird to her that there were no black decorations. Still looking at the tree she asked his fiancé, "Tom, why do you think they don't have black decorations?" Tom looked at her with a dumbfounded expression. "Um, Sara...Let's think. Christmas is about joy and love, which means, "FUN" colors, and with that he turned his attention back to the items in the store. Sara shook her head remaining herself once again that not everyone had her same view on whats joyous and fun.

She sighed and followed Tom deeper into the store. They were doing some last minute shopping for the grand annual Christmas celebration. Saras family always made a huge fuss over Christmas throwing one fabulous party every year. It was one occasion almost everyone in town looked forward too. It was a night of singing and dancing and basking in the Christmas spirit with the ones who were closest to your heart.

Snapping back to reality Sara noticed she had lost sight of Tom. Quickly scanning the shop she found him at the counter throwing one of his charming smiles at a petite red-headed girl. She knew what a friendly person he was but she couldnt help but feel the cold stab of jealousy. Making her way towards him she cupped her arm in his and led him out of the shop. After coming up with the lame excuse of needing some air Tom decided no to press the issue but instead told her to meet up later as he still needed to buy one last gift. Instead of complaining about his secrecy Sara smiled contently as she knew exactly whom the gift was for.

The hours passed quickly but Tm hadnt shown up anywhere. Tired of waiting she decided to go look for him. It wasnt long till she spotted his bright red overcoat but her mile quickly faded as she saw him with a girl. The same girl they had seen the store earlier and to her surprise they were holding hands and then he put his arm around her. Sara didn't know what to do. She wanted to cry, to run and hide away from the world. Sara thought of when she had heard him say that she was his one and only but that meant nothing now. She couldn't stop the tears from streaming down her face. Running back to her loft she slammed the door shut and slouched to the floor as the feeling of pain and betrayal washed over her.

Must to Toms amazement it wasnt a long drive to the hotel. He was bustling with excitement and curiousity ever since he had read Saras note. She had told him to meet him in the hotels garden by the giant Christmas tree in the center before the festivities began. He wondered what the surprise was and clenched his own gift even tighter. As he made his way to the gardens he noticed something was wrong. The gardens center was full of people and to his horror, police. Running to through the crowd he stopped dead in his tracks as he saw the tragic sight. The once marvelous, colourful Christmas tree was painted black but what pained him the most was seeing the lifeless, pale body of his fiancé dangling from it. Overpowered by emotion, he cried freely as slowly touched her cold skin. Unable to stand sight any longer he looked to the floor and through bleary eyes he noticed a piece of paper. Picking it up he read, "Dear Tom,Remember you told me that Christmas couldn't have a black color? Well, my Christmas does. You told me I was your only one......but that wasn't true. She was there too.....wasn't she? I wasn't the only one. I hope you two enjoy yourselves, and your Christmas together. I loved you. MERRY BLACK CHRISTMAS!Sara"Clenching his fist in frustration he yelled to his dead loved one, "I loved you only Sara! She wasn't anything, anything at all. She merely grabbed my hand as she tripped and I held her so she wouldnt fall. See! She was nothing" His voice trailed off. He looked at his hand and placed his gift by her feet. It was a small, plastic black Christmas tree. As he turned away he whispered to figure behind him, I love you"

Why spend it [money]?’” Stuever then points out that regardless of that, she still “likes the tradition.” This is the rhetorical strategy of allegory, because there is a deeper meaning there. It connects to the overarching theme because it highlights the fact that shopping can indeed be a tradition. Even though Carroll feels as if no one wants anything big that’s going to be worth buying, she still likes the tradition. It’s a “wet and unappealing morning,” so it’s very easy for Carroll to just stay home and not spend any money, but it’s a tradition that her and her daughter, Marissa, have created and they thoroughly enjoy doing it together. They even say that it felt as if it wasn’t the same, but they still do it. It’s the same thing with a family that has a traditional tradition, such as a Christmas tree or Christmas lights. Every single year, regardless of how they feel or where they’re at, they are always going to put up a Christmas tree. Carroll and Marissa like the tradition of shopping, and they will continue to do it.…

Mutual Mistake of fact is when both parties of a contract make an assumption of fact when contract is formed and signed. The mistake must significantly change what you have to do under the contract, almost to the point where it’s an entirely different agreement. Although, if you knew there was a strong chance or probability of mistake at the time the contract was signed, you may have assumed the risk of that mistake. You therefore cannot use the mutual mistake defense. Not all cases of Mutual Mistake are strong enough to void a contract.…

All can relate to that one special time of the year, Christmas, when whole families unite and spend hours endlessly sharing stories, making memories, and of course, opening presents! What happens though, when all of the sentimental value of Christmas is replaced solely with physical value, the gifts? What would Christmas be like then? Richard Rodriguez takes the readers through one of his annual Christmases and brings to light, through his thoughts, the disconnect that exists between himself, his siblings, and his parents. Rodriguez’ chronological presentation of events with flashbacks, short, abrupt syntax, light-hearted attention to detail and concerned tone contribute to suggest his worried attitude toward his family.…

She is pretty, but moderately pretty, not overdone or arrogant. The husband, however, has a "round, self-satisfied face." He is haughty and overconfident. The reader recognizes his self-centeredness and demeans him for it. The reader is told that the woman provides a "small but glossy birthday cake" for her husband's "Occasion." There is "one pink candle" in the center of the cake. The cake's appearance parallels with that of the wife's. Both are small and modest yet in their own way appealing. The wife has supplied a "little surprise" for the one she loves and she is very proud of it. The others dining at the restaurant react with a "pattering of applause" to support the woman and encourage her. The reader echoes this applause in his own mind in order to also help the woman. However, the reader at once discovers that the man "was not pleased." Brush then quotes the thoughts of the reader towards the husband's behavior with the reaction of "Oh, now, don't be like that." The author uses the words that she knows are in the mind of the reader. The woman is then seen to be crying "all to herself." Her husband has deserted her and she is left alone "under the gay big brim of her best…
