A Walk to Remember - Movie Review
A Walk to Remember
Movie analysis

Part 1: The movie is talking about Jamie (Mandy Moore) and Landon (Shane West) as popular bad boy follows the lives of these two Beaufort, North Carolina, high school students as they each grow and learn from each other through life's tender moments and unexpected trials. Jamie is a star-gazing, Bible-toting priest daughter, who, because of her strict Baptist upbringing, wears mostly loose-fitting dresses and sweaters. Landon, on the other hand, is an angry young man with a mean streak for those outside of the popular crowd. He initially considers Jamie prudish and bookish. But then he gets to know her, Jamie who is sweet…Jamie who is determined…Jamie who doesn't care what people think…Jamie who has quiet strength…Jamie who has faith in God and faith in him. And Landon, despite the taunts and tricks of his friends, finds himself not only falling for Jamie, but standing up for her when she needs it most specially when he found out that she is suffering with blood cancer (leukemia). True love -- not sex -- is what this story is all about.
The movie is not content to make Jamie a good girl; she must be a martyr as well. Midway through the movie, Jamie says to Landon, ''I warned you not to fall in love with me.'' (Too late!) This drew a gasp from a young woman behind me at the teenager-packed sneak preview. ''That's it,'' she said to her friends. ''She's sick. She's dying.'' And, sure enough, a few minutes later, Jamie said to Landon: ''I'm sick. I'm dying,'' and the story shifted from ''Pretty in Pink'' to ''Love Story.'' The Script was Based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, the Warner Brothers Pictures. The movie had so many music and songs such as : * "Cannonball"

Two classics claim their own space on the track list: while “Prelude to a Kiss” swims in beautiful sentiments drawn from Steve Slagle’s alto sax and Russell Malone’s rounded guitar chops, “Darn That Dream” is design solely by Cannon, whose fingers slip to Parker’s “Donna Lee” once in a while.…

The simplistic plot of the novel and the overall theme of love allows the author to span the lives of the main characters. The reader sees the span of the life of two of the main characters, Sidda and her mother Vivi, as they struggle to love each other based on their own childhood experiences. The reader also sees our two main characters in parallel encountering love and affairs of the heart; yet the most powerful love throughout the book is the love of four friends who stick together through the good and the bad. Vivi loves the Ya-Ya's; as adolescents they are looking for love and someone to look up to. Vivi didn't know how to love Sidda because Vivi's mother didn't know how to love her; therefore, Sidda doesn't know how to love Connor because she has never experienced love and is now afraid to be in love. The simplicity of the novel is that everyone is always looking to be loved. The simplicity is that in real life people are always searching to be loved, or finding love. Near the beginning of the novel when the ya-ya's are in their adolescence as young girls, going through the normal obstacles of childhood- fighting with their parents, getting into mischief, smoking and breaking curfew- they realize that by sticking together they can get through anything. They formalize this bond with a ceremony early on, "I am a member of the royal and true tribe of the Ya-Ya's…I do solemnly swear to be loyal sister Ya-Ya's, and to love and look out for them,…

Biographically themed movie productions continue to envelop the Hollywood landscape – serving as a means to reenact and interpret a majority of history’s most memorable moments (for better or worse). In the last month alone, depictions of Bobby Fisher (Pawn Sacrifice) and Whitey Bulger (Black Mass) are just two examples of cinematic incarnations that have served to entertain and semi-education observers.…

    Film Review: Mindwalk

If a good movie is one that makes you think, Mindwalk must be superb. However, I haven't even read the book it was based on and I can say that the book must have been better. The actors are laughable, and the physicists' accent changes with each new scene. Furthermore, the transitions to each scene are as smooth as sandpaper. The purpose of this movie wasn't, and with good reason, to be glamorous though. As many of our "Hollywood" movies are. The fast action, sex, blood, money crazed movies that we all love. The fact that Mindwalk was based on a book also gives some explanation to the choppy scenes, as many omissions were probably made. Financing played a role in the actors chosen for the movie, a kind of ironic humor if you think about it in context to what the entire movie is about. All of this in mind, and the fact that it was a lengthy 2+ hours; it could never be a blockbuster hit. I, on the contrary, enjoyed it. Some of the issues raised are those that many of us think about often, or maybe I am just hoping that I'm not the only one.…

His girlfriend in the movie is Marion Silver, played by Jennifer Connelly, and Harry’s best friend is Tyrone (Ty), played by Marlon Wayans. All four of them start using drugs and then wind up in the cycle of addiction. Harry, Ty, and Marion realize they can make some serious money selling heroin, so they start and do quite well for a short time. Their stash of money keeps growing. Marion is the only one who in the beginning questions the idea of selling, but she soon realizes she has access to an almost unlimited supply of heroin for herself. She snorts the heroin, whereas Harry and Ty mainline theirs. Now quickly about Harry’s mother, Sara Goldfarb: she is widowed, lives alone in a building with other senior women, and gets a call to go on an Infomercial Show she always watches on TV. When she submits her paperwork, she pulls out her favorite dress and realizes she needs to go on a diet. A friend suggests a local Doctor for diet pills and so begins Sara’s downward spiral, albeit on prescription speed. By the end of the movie, all of the characters are deep in their addictions. Sara Goldfarb does so much speed she hallucinates. As the heroin in their community dries up, Harry and Ty head out on a trip to Florida to buy some more heroin. They don’t get too far, as Harry’s shooting arm is abscessed and he needs immediate medical attention. At the hospital he and Ty get arrested. The final scene in the movie for Ty shows him detoxing off of heroin in jail. Harry’s last scene is in a hospital, waking up his arm has been amputated.
