Assume that plant weight is determined by a pair of alleles at each of two independently assorting loci (A and a, B and b) that are additive in their effects. Further assume that each allele represented by an uppercase letter contributes 4 g to weight and that each allele represented by a lowercase letter contributes 1 g to weight.…

Entitlement: You believe you should be able to do, say, or have whatever you want, right now, regardless of whether that hurts others or seems unreasonable to them. Others (and society) owe you. People with this filter have an excessive tendency to assert their power, force their point of view on, or control others. People with this filter may be very demanding, are not interested in what other people need, and are often not aware of the long-term costs of alienating others. This filter can be a reaction to adverse events in one’s life.…

Lynette Rodriguez recalls when she was a child she dropped out of school early because she believed that she was not clever enough to do anything academic with her life (Rodriguez, 2004). Identity is something that is created by people and effected by society. Currently some aspects of an individual’s perceived identity are corrupted due to negative stereotypes. Through strong leadership individuals can re-educate themselves to rebuild a stronger image of themselves (Oxenham et al., 1999). This is very important to remember when educating children because a negative self-image has a strong influence on academic enthusiasm. By building up a strong self-image an educator can make sure that children are able to reach their full…
Adding to Erikson’s developmental stages, James Marcia proposed that individuals who are in the stage of finding an identity could be classified in four statuses: identity diffusion, identity foreclosure, identity moratorium, and identity achievement. Those with the identity diffusion status have not experienced a crisis nor have made any commitments, and are apathetic. Individuals with identity foreclosure have made a commitment, which their parents have forced upon them, but have not had a crisis. Teens with the identity moratorium are going through a crisis, and have poorly defined commitments or none at all. Ultimately, those with identity achievement have…
What are the advantages and disadvantages of viewing behaviour through the life-span perspective for social practise?…
The prefrontal cortex is in the process of developing during the adolescent years, which is why teens are unable to make good judgements and responsible decisions. The developmental procedures of an adolescent are difficult to cope with due to severe changes in behavioural patterns, and personality traits, which are directly connected to the lack of development in an adolescences prefrontal cortex. Adolescents are emotionally unstable, due to mood swings and lack of development in the prefrontal cortex, which is responsible for smoothing and regulating emotions. Teens withdrawal into to their own social construct where they develop mentally and socially, and in this their peers play a major role in their development process by affecting their styles and behaviours. Adolescences are egocentric and make irrational decisions, but as their prefrontal cortex develops, they begin to think of others and differentiate between right and wrong. Adolescents develop emotionally, socially, and morally, until they discover a sense of self, and create their own values and morals to carry on with them into adulthood.…
Depression is something that I really have had no experience with in my life. Personally, I might have thought about killing myself figuratively at one specific point in my life. I thought about what the consequences would be and how it would effect the people who surround me in my life. As soon as these thoughts raced through my mind, I quickly realized that suicide is the wrong way to deal with life. I know that depression plays an essential role when dealing with suicide. There are three main depressive orders: Major Depressive Disorder, Dysthymia, and Bipolar Disorder.…
Depression is a disease that afflicts the human psyche in such a way that the afflicted tend to act and react abnormally toward others and themselves. Adolescent depression is greatly under diagnosed, and leads to serious difficulties in school, and personal adjustment. The reason why depression is often overlooked in children is because children are not always able to express how they feel. Therefore, teachers should be trained in dealing with depressed youths, and to advise the parents of the child to seek professional treatment. School is the place where children spend most of their waking hours learning, socializing, and growing. A child needs to be mentally healthy in order to learn properly, and sometimes problems arise at home, with friends, or with themselves. These problems need to be noticed, and talked about. Teachers have to pay attention to adolescents' behavioral patterns, and work with the child on a one to one basis. The child can then open up and talk freely with the teacher about anything that is on their mind. Learning disabilities or conduct disorder can put a child in greater risk of depression. Therefore, treating one problem and ignoring the other will not help the child overcome their difficulties (Fassler 63). Family must also play a major role in helping their depressed adolescent. Until the last decade, the commonly held view has been that depression affected persons in their middle years, and did not occur in childhood or adolescence. A lot has changed in the past decade. Due to systematic followup studies of children under treatment, and depressed parents, the onset of depression occurs during adolescence, and must be treated during adolescence (Weissman 210). Depression has a wide range of symptoms, from being sad or mad to withdrawal from others, or lashing out at others. Symptoms of youth depression are often masked. Instead of expressing sadness, teenagers may express boredom and irritability, or may choose to engage in risky…
Life has store many surprises for us as we develop throughout our whole life span. Developmental stages are the progress that occurs in humans from the time they are born until they grow old and die. Originally beginning with infants and children, development will subsequently progress into adolescence, followed by adult, and lastly elderly. The development occur in many fields, namely physical, perceptual, cognitive, moral and social.…
