Conclusion – ARAMID
Aramid fibre is a man-made organic polymer (an aromatic polyamide) produced by spinning a solid fibre from a liquid chemical blend. In today’s world Aramid fiber is the most lightest and the strongest fiber available. It is resistant of many thing and is been widely used in every type of equipments like air plane wings, gloves, boats etc. There are two types of aramid fiber Para Type aramid (Kevlar) and Meta Type aramid (Nomex).
Kevlar aramid fiber was developed by DuPont scientists researching liquid crystalline polymer solutions. It is lightweight and flexible with a unique combination of high strength, high modulus, toughness and thermal stability. Fibers of Kevlar® consist of long molecular chains produced from poly-paraphenylene terephthalamide. The chains are highly oriented with strong interchain bonding. Its resistance to chemicals and temperature extremes make it an ideal component for ropes under sever loads in harsh environments, from the bottom of the ocean to the surface of Mars. Ropes made with Kevlar fiber come in a variety of constructions and have been strength rated up to 1500 tons
Nomex fiber is an aromatic polyamide (aramid) fiber and can be used in Military and Industrial Applications. Nomex® excels in performance areas such as flame resistance and thermal protection. Its thermal technology resists the hazards associated with electric arcs and flash fires--including intense heat and flame. Nomex is engineered to stand up to flame temperatures in excess of 2,000°F. Unlike flame-retardant treated materials, Nomex® fibers are inherently flame resistant and will not diminish during the life of the fiber. The fibers low stiffness and high elongation give it textile-like characteristics.

These molecules, called polymers, fall into two classes: natural and synthetic. Natural polymers include many of the biomolecules that are essential to life: proteins, nucleic acids, and carbohydrates among them. Synthetic polymers—most of which were developed in just the last 60 or so years—include plastics, synthetic rubbers, and synthetic fibers. We shall study synthetic polymers in this Interchapter and natural polymers in the next one. Enormous industries have been built around synthetic polymer chemistry, which has profoundly changed the quality of life in the modern world.
