“The different types of measurement data are classified in terms of the kind of information they provide, a characteristic referring to the scale of the data. There are several approaches to doing classification (Tanner, D. E., & Youssef–Morgan, C. M. (2013).” The one comparison I have is from my previous employment. I worked for an online food store that sold both finished goods as well as raw products. I collected data daily for inventory control purposes for each product we had in stock. On weekly basis the data was analyzed for usage by the entire department. We used Mean, Median, and Mode as our overall summary of how well we as a department were doing with inventory usage, spoilage, as well as damage. Analyzing this weekly helped the department control buying products that were not being used often. It also helped us to understand employee habits when product was often damaged they looked at the type of damage as well as whom was assigned to the task/job. For example: the department would purchase crushed tomato as well as peeled tomato, the peeled tomato was only purchased by consumers as a raw product / canned good once a month. Rarely used in any recipes and often put in a high risk place that machines would often knock over. After supplying my inventory day to day we realized that this product was not a seller and we needed to discontinue or buy smaller quantities. The overall decision to discontinue the product was made by the buyer and department head. For an Organization
