The idea behind the Alternative Fuel Vehicle (AFV) was intended to reduce emissions (generated by burning fossil fuels) that are polluting our air and depleting the ozone. AFV’s also help reduce our dependence on foreign oil (mostly from a highly unstable region of the world). Prior to a decision being made whether or not to alternative fuel vehicles to the fleet of Lotus Rental Cars, we most determine if alternative fuel vehicles are actually a feasible choice. To do this we must first have an understanding of alternative fuel vehicles. Through our research, we have discovered that there are a growing number of alternative fuel vehicles on the road today. Alternative fuel vehicles are defined as any vehicle that can operate on a fuel or power source other than diesel or gasoline. These vehicles come in many different forms, from small commuter cars to larger commercial vehicles. The use of these alternative fuel sources greatly reduces out countries dependency on foreign oil and reduces air pollution caused by CO2 emissions (Gable & Gable, 2009).…
This article focuses on how the gasoline engine is unlikely to be replaced by ethanol, hydrogen or electric powered engines anytime soon, contrary to what the media has everyone believing (333). For example, car companies are redesigning the electric car model to be more aerodynamic so the cars can fit smaller batteries in them but are still able to last a whole day’s driving. Refueling electric cars would simply involve plugging it into any electric outlet (334). White indicates pros and cons of alternative powered vehicles to inform the reader that the cons outweigh the pros even though they are possible ideas.…
- Some of the ways that people waste money is withdrawing cash from an atm that isn’t from your bank takes more money out of your account than you want. Or buying stuff that you don’t need, or paying for cell phone bills.…
America’s fleet of vehicles has been solely reliable on fuel until the past 10 years. Today, vehicle companies are competing against each other for the pride of having the greenest car. Many people in the U.S. are happy with the cars they drive. They go fast, they are big, and nothing seems to be out of place. So why should rental cars use alternative fuels? This is the question being asked to Lotus Rental Cars CFO. By performing thorough research, the consultants will first present a comparison between gas vehicles and alternative fuel vehicles. As we progress through this essay, we will explore all the great alternatives modern technology has to offer, and the benefits of each.…

The narrative begins to unfold with a brief history of the first electric cars created in the early twentieth century. These electric vehicles were killed off nearly 100 years ago as gas/petroleum powered internal combustion engine (ICE) cars became cheaper. The worsening problems of gas/petrol cars are illustrated: smog, high child asthma rates, CO2 emissions and global warming. [Later we also see the use of the US Military in the Middle East. The loss of life and financial cost of war are not mentioned].…
New technology today has provided us with some crazy cool things. We have iPhones, hoverboards, self-opening doors and now self driving cars. Driverless cars should be on roads because they prevent car accidents, are self-evident and efficient.…
They also suggested that we look at alternative energy sources and explore the development of higher efficient vehicles. The automobile industry is currently looking for ways to contribute to the success of America’s vision and are introducing vehicles that draw their power from electricity rather than the traditional gasoline engine. “We are on the verge of an automotive revolution.” states author, William White in his article,” Why the Gasoline Engine Isn’t Going Away Any Time Soon.” (Behrens & Rosen, p534-535). Electric or hybrid cars are environmentally safer than the traditional engine however, the cost and repair of such vehicles are very high. Battery replacements for a hybrid vehicle can run a consumer thousands of dollars. The manufacturers are trying to combat this negative with longer extended warranties that include the vehicle’s battery. It is believed that the amount to time that these vehicles have been on the road is not enough time to determine the true value of them and that as time passes, this information will become apparent, or not. (Behrens & Rosen, 2013, pg.…
Prior to this course I was unaware of just how much fossil fuel the world uses and how if we don’t improve on our consumption we will run out in the not so distant future. As fossil fuel diminishes one step that many of us might consider is reducing the amount of fossil fuels we use in our transportation needs. In this class I researched and compared and contrasted all the major electric, hybrid and standard vehicles in an effort to show readers what type of vehicle may meet there wants and or needs. Through my research I discovered the importance of car companies to continue to make advances on these electric automobiles. While writing this paper I was able to provide justification and a strong rationale in the selection of a vehicle. Lastly, there are many other solutions for example as developing different and cleaner fuels or increasing public transportation. This course has opened my eyes to many energy solutions for the future of our…
I'm the kind of person that loves to work on cars and and doesn't like to sit around inside and do nothing. I really want to be in human resources and work for a big company. I at least want a 300,000 dollar home with a big lifted truck and a a gtr and a 9 second drag car. I want to live in a nice house in a small town. I like towns where everybody knows everybody and it's not loud. I also love cars its all ive ever liked. I've always loved the feeling when you start your car and let it run. It gives me butterflies. I love the feeling of being sucked into the seat of the car or when the tires break loose and the car gets sideways. It's the best feeling in the world. I want to be a human resource manager because most of my…
President George W. Bush recently stated in his 2006 State of the Union address, “Keeping America competitive requires affordable energy. And here we have a serious problem: America is addicted to oil, which is often imported from unstable parts of the world. The best way to break this addiction is through technology.” The President of the United States understands why America must do everything it possibly can to research other more feasible methods of energy to fuel our cars because the foreign countries America currently depends on to supply such a precious fuel is unstable and very undependable.…
Imagining the modern American society without the internal combustion engine is like thinking of the United States without the Eastern Interconnection Power Grid. Modern Transportation is such a vital part of life in Western civilizations that there is no way to live without it. First world societies have glorified the use of fossil fuels and combustion engines which emit greenhouse gasses into the Earth’s atmosphere. In addition to the high amount of greenhouse gas emissions, humans are using up fossil fuels at an alarming rate. It is pivotal that humans find a to achieve sustainable, zero emission transportation. Convincing a population to switch over to zero emission transportation will be a challenge on many levels. Transferring from conventional cars to fully electric cars is a viable and necessary action to help preserve Earth and to achieve sustainable transportation.…
"Not only do electric vehicles produce just as much carbon in their overall cycle as internal-combustion engines, the need to replace the batteries actually makes them less green than current technology." If we want a cleaner way to get around, "the answer is natural gas, not electric…
* Hook: How much fossil fuel we add to our cars and meanwhile, how much we produce a lot of carbon dioxide to the air we don’t know. In nowadays ours vehicle are consume gasoline both benzene and diesel enormously, but recently we have new innovation of car’s engine call “hybrid”. Hybrid cars are save our energy!…
According to loc.gov the first automobile was invented by Karl Benz around 1885 and by 1912 Thomas Russell wrote the book called Automobile Driving Self-Taught where he calls the act of driving an art and presents all the rules and steps to become a good driver; however, since then automobile manufacturers have been creating more cars and implementing better technologies and improving automobiles to the point that today most new cars are semi-autonomous and driving has become boring and a task not many like to do especially in heavy traffic; however, in these last years, self-driving cars have become a popular subject and a race for major technological and car companies, to develop the first autonomous car.…
