Using your Biology Textbook answer the following questions.

1. What types of organisms are Prokaryotes?
The Prokaryotes are organisms that are single-celled, and their DNA is not confined to a nucleus and do not have membrane bounded organelles. There are two domains of Prokaryotes, Bacteria and Archaea.

2. What types of organisms are Eukaryotes?
Eukaryotes can be single-celled or multi-celled, and their DNA is contained in a nucleus and has membrane bounded organelles. There are four kingdoms of Eukaryotes, Protista, Animalia, Fungi and Plantae.

3. What are 2 major characteristics of the internal structure of bacteria?
Two major characteristics of the internal structure of bacteria are the nucleoid and the storage granules. The nucleoid is where the DNA is generally found although its not in a nucleus. The storage granules are where the nutrients and reserves are stored in the cytoplasm.

4. Where is the bacterial DNA located?
The bacterial DNA is located in the nucleoid.

5. What determines the shape of a bacterium and what is it made of?
The cell wall determines the shape of the bacterium and is made of polysaccharides and protein.

6. What are the 3 basic shapes of bacteria?
The three shapes of bacteria include spherical(coccus), rod-shaped(bacillus), and spiral(spirillum).

7. Describe the plasma membrane of a bacterium.
The plasma membrane is a lipid bilayer that is responsible for moving protein in or around this layer to aid in the transport of
