Cis 105 Week 1 Checkpoint - Computer Comparison Essay Example
Computers Comparison Students Name University of Phoenix January 21, 1011 Computers Comparison I believe most of the general populations are aware of how rapidly technology evolves. I will start by giving a little bit of background into my own computer system. I purchased my Desktop computer system in late October 2008. At the time I was set to begin a journey into the world of higher education and needed a computer that could keep up with me. As I did my research into what was on the market that would fit not only my budget, but the needs I believe I needed. I quickly found I was not interested in anything that was on the market in stores, simply because of the fact all the “new” systems were installed with Windows Vista. That left me with only two choices. I could have a system custom built for what I needed and loaded with Windows XP, or I could take a leap and jump into a Mac Desktop. I continued to research and found it would be more efficient to have a computer system custom built to fit my needs. The Desktop I had built needed to do everything I needed for school, handle some large programs such as Adobe Creative Suite and also be able to network with my family’s existing system, for the purpose of printer and file sharing. I spoke to a technician, and we came up with a system that fit my budget as well as needs. My Desktop consists of a basic black tower, Gigabyte S-series motherboard, which supports Intel Multi-Core Processors. The processor is an Intel Duo Core E700 2.53GHz. The system has 2.00 GB of random access memory (RAM), and a 500GB hard drive. The system has been extremely reliable and more than met the needs. However, two] months ago it contracted a virus that essentially crashed my entire operating system. Thankfully I had enough time to run to Target and purchase an external hard drive to enable me to transfer my files from the computer just

Throughout the years prices of computers have dropped and the memory in the computers has gotten substantially higher. Moore’s Law tells us that the number of processors doubles every two years. Well this is causing technology or computers in this case to basically double as well. In 1957 a 0.00098 KB RAM cost $392. This is unbelievable to me considering today my phone has two-billion times the RAM. In 1955 the amount of ROM on an IBM hard-drive was 12 MB and cost a whopping $74800 or the price of a decent house today. This price was at $6233 per MB. In today’s world we forget sometimes that there were even computers with MB hard drives.…

Another reason for keeping a computer operating system updated is to provide increased productivity. When a software program evolves from one version to another, it becomes more streamlined, user-friendly, and increases intuitive to put to work. A major part of a business expenses are the employees and having upgraded software are synonymous with investing in employee productivity. As companies grow, hardware and software must grow with them to face increasing demands of productivity (Garger & Kosur, 2010). As I read chapter seven “Patrol and Traffic “, I learn that a reactive patrol is a form of random patrol. Random patrol is said to be incident driven, or reactive, in that officers are responding to crimes only after they occur, either through rapid response to calls for service or to a violation or call in progress. Due to officer constantly moving it makes responding to these 911 calls easier and faster to respond. The specific activities an officer engages in while on random patrol vary significantly across officers, times, locations, and departments, because much of the time spent on patrol is officer initiated (Grant & Terry, 2008).…

Today, the world is experiencing significant technological revaluation at the main part of which is the information technology. There is a general belief that information technology eases and contributes to many aspects of our life (Nunn & Quinet, 2002). And new technologies has drastically changed our way of life to include attitudes, thoughts, perceptions and community at large. In particular, Information Technology has transformed our big world into a global village. Unlike the traditional means of law enforcement, in this case through street patrols, the adoption of Information Technology has brought a tremendous improvement to the law enforcement community and hugely impacted crime rate. In the past, random patrolling of the streets were carried out without proper organization with regards to insight, predictions of crime activities and the nature thereof. The use of IT in law enforcement centers around predictive policing which is the term used to describe “any policing strategy or tactic that develops and uses information and advanced analysis to inform forward-thinking crime prevention”. (Predictive Policing Symposium, 2010). Predictive policing focuses on some strategies which will be used in the remaining of this paper to address the comparison and cotrast of the use IT in policing versus random street patrols, how Inormation Systems have allowed police departments that implement tools such as COMPSTAT to respond to crime faster, and implementing the SWOT analysis on behalf of police departments that intend to implement predictive policing.…

“The environment supports every child’s learning through planned experiences and activities that are challenging and achievable.” (National Strategies EYFS 2014: 32) (Foundation Years, 2016) This quotation associates with The Play Strategy 2008 which was the government’s plan to improve facilities for all children, for instance when the children have P.E, facilities are located for disabled children so they are not excluded. My setting has also placed lifts for children and adults in wheelchairs, this also combines with The Equality Act 2010, which clarifies how schools/nurseries should not discriminate if a child has a disability, and instead they should remain professional and maintain positive relationships between practitioners/professionals. (The Equality Act, 2010)…
