While the test indicted no significant difference in the ratings between eBay (M = 4.17, SD = 0.76) and Amazon.com (M – 4.00, SD – 0.78), even though users stated they found eBay (N = 14) easier than Amazon.com (N = 8) to perform tasks only barely did users prefer eBay (N = 11) over Amazon.com (N = 10). The close ranking wasn’t attributed to the tasks performed but, rather, as was echoed by multiple participants, the overall reliability of the sellers on Amazon.com compared to eBay, leading the users to feel as they were in a safer environment while on Amazon.com.
