TO ADVANCE PHYSICAL AND INTELLECTUAL COMPETENCY I WILL DO MY BEST TO TEACH IN A SAFE AND FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT. I WILL HAVE OPEN COMMUNICATION WITH THE CHILD AND THE FAMILY. ALSO WHILE CREATING MY WEEKLY PLAN I WILL INCLUDE PHYSICAL, COGNITIVE, AND CREATIVE ACTIVITIES TO IMPROVE ALL FUNCTIONAL AREAS. IN THE MORNINGS WHEN THE PARENTS ARE DROPPING-OFF THEIR CHILDREN WE USUALLY TRY TO ASK IF THE CHILD SLEPT GOOD, IF THE CHILD HAD ANYTHING TO EAT BEFORE COMING TO THE CENTER.WE SIT IN AT CIRCLE TIME AND ASK THE CHILDREN QUESTIONS AND SEE THEIR REACTIONS ON THE TOPICS. WE COMMUNICATE WITH THE CHILDREN THROUGHOUT THE DAY TO ENSURE THEIR WELL BEING AND TO HELP THEM UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON AROUND THEM. DURING OUTSIDE PLAY WE ENCOURAGE THE CHILDREN TO BE ACTIVE. THEY PLAY BALL, AT TIMES THE ROLL THE BALL AND LAUGH AT THE EFFECT THE BALL HAS WHEN IT IS PUSHED. THEY ARE LEARNING TO KICK THE BALL, OUR NEXT GOAL IS TO TEACH THEM TO THROW THE BALL. WE ARE ALSO SHOWING THEM HOW TO PUSH THEMSELVES WITH THEIR FEET ON THE RIDDING TOYS. INSIDE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE SONGS THAT THEY CAN DANCE TO, FOR EXAMPLE THE SONG “HEAD, SHOULDERS, KNEES, AND TOES”. THEY LEARN THE MOVEMENTS OF THEIR BODIES. DURING LIBRARY TIME WE SIT WITH THEM AND LOOK AT PICTURES AND ASK THEM “WHAT DO YOU SEE? , WHERE’S THE DOG?, OR WHAT’S IT DOING?” ALSO IN OUR BLOCK AREA WE USUALLY COUNT OUT THE BLOCKS TO THE CHILDREN AND WHEN GIVING THEM AN OBJECT WE SAY WHAT IT IS AND THE COLOR IT IS. THIS HELPS THEM WITH THEIR SORTING AND THINKING SKILLS. IN OUR CLASSROOM WE ENCOURAGE THEM TO USE THEIR CREATIVITY BY LETTING THEM USE THEIR IMAGINATION. WHEN WE READ FARM ANIMAL BOOKS WE USE PUPPETS TO HELP THEM UNDERSTAND WHAT THE ANIMALS LOOK LIKE AND THE SOUNDS THEY MAKE.THEY IMITATE THE SOUNDS AND ACTIONS OF THE

I provide a positive relationship with the child through daily routines and interactions allowing growth in in their development of self and others. Each morning I ensure that I greet each child and parent when they arrive. In greeting the child I will always address the child by his/her name and encourage the other children to say good morning. I feel this gives the child and parent a sense of trust and security for a safe and secure environment and this acknowledgment makes the child feel special and welcome in the class. In the mornings I also have open centers where the children can go around and greet the other student and to move and work at their own pace. I also find some way to praise the class and each child daily. I provide opportunities for the children to always feel successful and proud of themselves. All children have different rates of development and different personalities. Knowing this can help us be patient. I show children that I really care about them by accepting each child as an individual. I help children with developing social skills, Self- control, problem-solving skills, and the ability to act independently.…

Active Play in the Early Years varies between ages. It is essential for all children. The National Physical Activity Recommendations state that toddlers (1-3 years) and Early Learners/Pre Schoolers (3-5 years) should be physically active every day for at least three hours which would be spread throughout the entire day. This sounds like a lot but they have masses of energy that come and go throughout the day. Active Play is very important for a child’s health, development and growth. Physical activity has many benefits for children. These include muscular, bone and heart strength, social skills, developing movement and co-ordination, PILES will be developed on and the child’s wellbeing and self-esteem will be developed. It is essential that the child care setting recognises the physical strengths of each child. The activities need to be simple and positive along with age friendly. Some children love competitive sports but there are plenty of games and activities that cater for a child with different active play interests. Repetition is needed as it will take an early learner longer to learn a game or activity as these skills are only being developed and they take time and children need to recognise the play activities that they like and are interested in.…

The first thing that I noticed was that the kids had different styles of communication. Some liked to initiate dialog, and told all about their lives and family in the first few minutes of meeting someone. While other kids seemed like they did not really want to talk and just wanted to play by themselves. My son is the more sociable example, so I am used to having our lives told to strangers in an instant. The kids also used non-verbal communication. They used their hands to say, “follow me” or “come here.” Sometimes they just pointed where they wanted everyone to go.…

    How to Teach Pronunciation

    • 2835 Words
    • 12 Pages

Communication can be a tricky business, especially when the listener and speaker are from different linguistic backgrounds. There are pitfalls aplenty with poor word choice and improper inflection, and there are numerous reasons a student has difficulty reproducing the sounds of English correctly. Perhaps pronunciation had little focus in previous classes, or maybe the student has never had any formal language instruction. Even students with significant educational experience can have problems. Perhaps early pronunciation was taught by nonnative speakers who themselves have oral production problems. Maybe the student’s first language contains different phonemes and the student simply cannot hear the sounds, let alone accurately replicate them. A consideration of learner’s pronunciation errors and of how these can inhibit successful communication is a useful basis on which to assess why it is important to deal with pronunciation in the classroom.…
